Ansel Bremerkamp made a business trip to Hoagland this morning. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Yeoman of ; Monroe were visitors in the city Saturday. Mrs-.- Fred Scheumann and Mrs. Fred Koenemann went to Ft. Wayne this morning. Mary, two and a half year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Engle, is ill of indigestion. Miss Lottie Flox returned to South Bend this morning after a visit with her sister, Mrs. I. Bernstein. Miss Esther Schrank left this morning for Plymouth, where she will visit with her sister, Mrs. Frank Maley. J. H. Gentis left today on a few days’ business trip in the interest of the International Harvester company. Mrs. J. S. Bowers and son, William, motored through to Rome City Sunday, where they spent the day at their cottage. Miss Agnes Colchin returned to Ft. Wayne this morning after spending Sunday here with her mother, Mrs. Lucy Colchin. Mr. and Mrs. Milo Ortiz are here visiting with relatives. They are moving to Marion. Mrs. Ortiz was formerly Miss Mabel Winans. i

Mr. and Mrs. Clayson Carroll re turned last night from their wedding trip in the east. They came in on the Clover Leaf train on which the seven ty some Decatur Knights of Columbus were returning from Delphos, O. and one by one the Knights passed in and congratulated the embarrassed couple. » ** ?■' f

Hayslip, traveling salesman for Smith & Bell, left this morning on his regular trip, for Delpho, Ohio, and points oast. Clayton Shafer returned to this city last evening from Warren, where he joined his family in an over-Sun-day visit with his uncle, J. E. Shafer, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Alton 1 Wherry and daughter, Marilynne, of Monroeville, visited and enjoyed a chicken dinner Sunday at the Oliver Johnson home, south of the city. Mr. L. C. Waring, the well known glove manufacturer, returned last evening from a several weeks’ hunting trip to Brunswick. He reports a most delightful time. The Research club had a splendid meeting this afternoon at the home of Mrs. James Fristoe, when Mrs. P. G. Hooper had a fine paper on ‘ Dramatic Incidents of American.” Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Lee, Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Michaud and daughter. Florine, motored to Berne Sunday and were guests of Mr. Michaud’s father. Henry' Michaud and wife and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. John Porter and son. Chalmer, and Dr. and Mrs. Rainier and Vane Thompson were delightfully entertained at Sunday dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Frazier in Blue Creek township. George McCoy and family and Miss Charlotte Diller motored here from Churubusco yesterday and were guests of the Alva Nichols family. Mr. and Mrs. Nichols accompanied them to Fort Wayne last evening. Mrs. Fred Schaub has returned from a visit at Union City. Mr. and Mrs. Schaub went last week to attend the silver wedding of Mr. and Mrs. George Kennedy. Mr. Schaub was formerly employed by Mr. Kennedy. The Misses Holthouse and Miss Tonnelier entertained at 6 o'clock dinner last evening. The usual Hal lowe'en decorations prevailed. The guests were Mrs. Otto Haubold, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Sellemeyer and daughter, Miss Martha. Mr. and Mrs. William Dowling returned home Saturday evening from Toledo, where they spent a ten days’ honeymoon with Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Uhl. The young couple will go to housekeeping this week in the Sprague residence at the corner of Fifth and Marshall streets. The Misses Nellie Borros and Gayl Yocum of Ohio City, Messrs. Spry and Dellinger of Rockford, Ohio, motored here yesterday and were guests at 6 o’clock dinner of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Yocum. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Parrish and son, Richard Kenneth, as this city. Yesterday was visitors' day at the local plant of the Holland-St. Louis Sugar company, and all afternoon a continuous string of people were coming and going. The factory is running full force and is indeed an interesting place to visit. The average run for a twenty-four hour day is placed at 100.000 pounds of sugar for which 700 tons of raw beets are used. Manager Hubbard estimated the number of sight-seers yesterday at 1,000.
