Sikes. Edna Crawford and Marcella Kuebler visited at the Sacred Heart Academy, Fort Wayne over Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hamilton and children returned to Huntington yesterday after a visit with the Venis family. Lester Stanley and Lawrence Gerard returned from an over Sunday pleasure trip to Cleveland and Detroit. Mrs. George Gerard returned to her home at Fort Wayne this morning aft er visiting in the city over Sunday with the McFee family. Mr. and Mrs. F. Bohnke of New York City who have been visiting in the ity with Rev. and Mrs. Wehmeyer left yesterday for their home. The J. S. McCrory family left this morning in their automobile for Angola and Crooked Lake where they will spend a three weeks’ outing. Mr, and Mrs. Ray Lare and daughter, Helena and R. M. Miss Dora Schultz of the Fullenkamp store will leave tonight for Fort Wayne where she will spend her two weeks’ vacation with her sister, Mrs. Carl Hanna. The force of the Vance and Hite clothing store were busy today moving their stock of goods from the Stone building to the Niblick building next door to the Democrat office. Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Jackson returned to Fort Wayne yesterday after a visit witli his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Jackson. Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Jackson recently returned from California. Miss Effie Haines returned to this < ity yesterday to resume her position at the- Ward Manufacturing company's office after enjoying a three week’s vacation with her parents at Warren Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Lee motored to Lake James Saturday and spent the flay with friends. Miss Rose Christen who has been taking a vacation at that place returned to this city with them. Ed Coffee, Chas. Baxter and Fred Engle motored to Ohio City Sunday where they witnessed a most exciting ball game. Ask the boys the score. The trip was made in Mr. Engle's machine. Miss Mabel Sutton who has been visiting with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Sutton, went to Fort Wayne Sunday for a visit with an aunt and from there went to her home in Detroit, Mich. Herman Ehinger and the J. H. Bremerkamp family, Mildred and Harold Niblick, the Deinlngers, the Misses Mayme, Adelaide and Frances Deininger and Rose Voglewede have returned from Rome City. Miss Helen Diller left yesterday for Montpelier where she will visit her aunt Mrs. Levi Hawk and before returning will also go to Hartford City where she will visit with her cousin, Mrs. Alfred Sills. E. H. Shoemaker left Sunday for a two weeks’ business trip in the interest of the Ward Manufacturing company. Mr. Shoemaker's trip will include the states of New York, Maine, Massachusettes and Pennsylvania. Work was begun yesterday by contractors Mann and Christen on the building of a new front in the Holthouse drug store building. Marble brick will form the base, while prison! glass will surround the top. When completed it will be one of the most up to date and finest fronts in the city. John Horner is the loser of a dollar as result of a hobo umbrella mender giving his wife a counterfeit dollar in a handful of change for a five dollar note. The mender went to the door of the Hornor home and inquired whether they had umbrellas to mend. Mrs. Horner left him fix one belonging to her daughter and in payment handed him a five dollar note. He took his mo.ney and handed her some silver dollars. She did not her some silver dollars.
