Mrs. L. Long and daughter, Lou ise, went to Fort Wayne today. John Mosure of Bluffton was a busi ness visitor in the city yesterday. W. H. Buuck and Mrs. William Linnemeier of Preble returned from Fort Wayne this morning, where they had been visiting with friends. The children of the St. Joseph's school enjoyed a free day yesterday, given them by Father Seimetz, in honor of the feast of St. Agnes, which was celebrated yesterday. J. 11. Schultz, agent for the John Hancock Mutual Insurance company, of Boston, aud the Hoosier Casualty Company, with a line of agencies of t re insurance, has moved his office above the Winnes shoe store and is now ready to handle any insurance business that the public wishes to ' give him.
Ed Lewton of Monmouth was here on business today. Ed Fox of Berne was a business visitor in the city today. Mrs. George Zimmerman went to Fort Wayne today noon. Fred Koler of French township was here today on business. Miss Matilda Krueckeberg went to Fort Wayne today noon. George Ringger of French township was here today on business. Henry Koenetnann made a business trip to Hoagland this morning. John Schug left on his regular trip to the south part of the state. Dick Myers left this afternoon for Hoagland on professional business. Mrs. Joseph Tonneller and daughter Bessie, spent yesterday at Fort Wayne. Mrs. H. H. Jones of Wren, Ohio, went to Fort Wayne today to visit with her parents. W. A. Kuebler has returned from Ft. Wayne, where he was looking after business matters. Abe Boch of Fort Wayne was in the city today visiting friends and looking after business matters. Mrs. Joe Vail returned to Bryan, 0., today, after a visit here with Mr. and Mrs. Dan Sprang, and other relatives. Mrs. Dan Vail entertained at dinner last evening for Mrs. Joe Vail, of Bryan, Ohio, and Mr. and Mrs. Dan Sprang. Mrs. Eliza Pat | rson returned to Logansport today noon after a two weeks’ visit here with Dr. and Mrs. J. 3. Coverdale. W. A. Fonner of Root township today shipped eleven fancy Mammoth Bronze turkeys to a breeder, the birds bringing a fancy price. John Stewart of this office and Martin Mylott, city electric!*/. made a busines strip to Ft. Wayne last evening in the interest of the Democrat company. Charlie Voglewede will return home tomorrow evening from Toledo, where lie has been spending a couple of weeks with his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clem Uhl. taking a much needed rest. The home talent play to be given by the junior class of the Decatur high school, will be one of the'principal events of the high school year. The date of the play will be announced within a short time. The mail sack robbery which occurred at the Clover Leaf depot Mon day evening, still remains a mystery. The government authorities, who were in the city Tuesday looking up the case, returned to their homes, not being able to find a clue to the thief.
Among those who went to Decatur Tuesday evening to attend the Masonic degree work were Herman W. Thoma, James 11. Bennett. James P. Hale, W. L. Kiker. Ernest Wieekinr, Charles M. Miller. Harry Lewis, Hugh Studabaker, Samuel E. Hitchcock. James B. Krill and Frank Elite. The Royal Arch degree was conferred on three candidates.
