.ANOTHER raise K Ma? be Given the Rural Ma-I . Carriers-The Parcels ? r Post. IMPOSES burden ‘ Upon Then Requiring in J Man ) Cases New Equipment for Delivery. Washington. I). C„ Dec. 23 Indiana I rural carriers may be pardoned if they felicitate among themselves over the splendid prospect for securing an In crease in salary. The house committee on postoffice and post roads, In its executive sessions, lias decided upon an ineit-ase of salary for these I public servants, the details of which will lie made public when the bill Is reported to the house, ft Is known, I however, that the increase is substantial, amounting in the case of a standard route to about fifty dollars a year and on other routes in proportion. The theory upon which the increase is lo be granted is that the establish ment and subsequent enlargment of : the parcels post has Imposed upon the j rural carriers a burden which they! never anticipated. The total amount , of the Increase, spread over the conn j try at large, will be about $2,200,000 I per annum. Rural carriers are obllg ! ed to furnish their own wagons, and It I was presented to the committee that In many instances the great volume of bulky parcels post mall will make it neewmary for the carriers to go to the expense of providing themselveswith larger vehicles. o — TUNEFULBELLS Wedding Bells and Christmas Chimes Will Mingle Their Joyous Sounds.
