Notice Is hereby officially given to the newly elected democratic county central committee that you meet at the court house, in the city of Decatur, Indiana, at 10 o'clock a. m., on Friday, December 26, for the purpose or reorganizing and for the purpose of selecting delegates to tiie district convention, under orders from the state committee. At that time they will meet the workers of the district and hear addresses from men who do things. Join the delegation. The republican national committee Las decided not to hold a convention next year as was suggested by some of tiie leaders. Various causes are given, the principal one being that the time is not ripe for a reconciliation of the forces. Tiie facts are the pro gressives are as strong now as ever and they believe just as strongly in the principles which made them leave the old ship two years ago. Dailey of Bluffton, has been recommended by Senators 1 Kern and Shively to be the district attorney of Indiana. His appointment will no doubt be made within a fewdays and he will assume the position January 1. It is a good place, oud wherein is required experience, ability and honesty and a desire to work, all of which Mr. Dailey has in large quantities. His Adams county friends are gloriously glad of his success realizing that the government gains most by employing such men as Frank Dailey. We know' he will succeed and that we will all be many times proud of him. AMENDMENTS DEFEATED. (United Press Service) Washington, D. C., Dec. IS —(Spec ial to Daily Democrat) —Rushing through the currency bill, the variousHitchcock amendments were voted down rapidly in order. Amendmentsincreasing the gold reserve and mini mum capital of the reserve banks wer* defeated. The amendment providing for the sale of stock of the regional banks to the public instead of members of the' banks was also defeated A vote on whether the government oi the members of the reserve banks should name the majority of the direc tors of the reserve banks resulted in favor. To become an expert at forgetting, just to forget all the unkind 1 acts, the deep wrongs, the mean words, the bitter disappointments —just let them go. forget them—the memory will become quick and alert to remember the things worth remembering, the mind given to beautiful things, worth while things, and to remember always that I am in the presence of God, this is my desire for the New Year. With the watchword, "In the beginning, God—”A. H., Illinois, in Woman's Home Companion. A very enjoyable social affair of Wednesday evening was the miscellaneous shower given by Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Baker at their home on Monroe street for Miss Gusta Ketchum, whose marriage to XJr. Harve Baker will take place Christmas day. The Christmas colors in red and green prevailed in the decorations. Crepe paper in streamer effect was used and the electric light bulbs were hooded in red. Red Christmas l>ells were also hung with pleasing effect. An appropriate contest was the forming of words from "Christmas Tree.” Miss Muriel Leonard formed the greatest number in the given time and the prize giver, her was in turn given to the brideelect. An appetizing luncheon was served. The gifts which were laid on the table and later opened by the bride-elect were found to be of alumi num, cut glass, china, linen and many articles of useful things for the new home. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Brushwiller, Mr. and Mrs. Alva Baker, the Misses Marie Butler, Frances Baker, Lucy McCrory, Gladys Selman. Vera Hunsicker, Muriel Leonard. Effie Miller, Florine Edwards, Gusta Ketchum: Messrs. Alpheus Koop and Harve Baker. At the call of the Rev. S. H. Baumgartner of Napierville, 111., the Baum gartner relatives in Berne held a meeting this week at the C. W. Baum gartner home to talk over the advisability of holding a reunion and decid ed on Thursday, August 27. 1914. at the date for the bringing together of as many as possible of the descendants of Deacon David Baumgartner, l>orn in Switzerland in 1735. Officeis and committees were elected at this time. It is desired that everyone interested in this reunion, and this should include all the descendants ot Deacon David Baumgartner, assist Elmer W. Baumgartner, Berne, as much as possible in securing all names and addresses of people la-long ing to this great family circle, so tha' he can communicate with them and inform them of this coming reunion. It will be a great event and will no uoubt be kept up thereafter from year to year. Many Decatur relatives are included in the circle. Mrs. Theodore Kennedy was given a happy surprise yesterday by a num lier of the Woman's Relief Corps, th" event la-ing In honor of her birthday anniversary. The ladies took baskets of good things and taking possession of the kitchen at the Kennedy home, prepared the excellent dinner spread at noon. A number of amusements and quiet chatting passed a very enjoy able day. that will be long remembered with pleasure by all.
