DON’T BE A HOLDBACK Ever notice a balky horse? Ever notice how lie just foolishly looks arouud himself, bites his bit —and absolutely refuses to go ahead or to be driven? Ho is a lit representative of thousands of human beings—-and with but a truetiou of their sense! One of tlie greatest sources of inspiration in this world is a human be ing who doesn't bite his bit or hold back. You, whose brain lias evolved a great organisation —you know the Joy that, springs up out of the consciousness that those who work under your direction, not only take the bit in their teeth, but go ahead and pull tlie loud. Also, you know tlu< tremendousHess of worry and weight that results from trying to pull an organisation of holdbackers. The cheerful, smiling puller is the tplluw tiiat delivers the goods. If you can't pull and if you can't push, then for tlie sake of yoursef and for the sake of the organization in which you find yourself, get qut of the way and let the willing winners have their way. No man ever held hack in any enterprise or crowd or busine s without first Irecoming a holdbucker against himself. If people l<M>k upon you as a ho! Ibnckur. begin this minute within you.- , self to change “the map.” Get in i place. Do your share. Pull with the rest. You will have no idea—until then—of what a find you were as n hold ha < k.r. Vou will become the ••cornerstone" of eftl.leticy.- Georfc Mathew Adams. i 1 Mayor Shank of liidiunup<dh» h.h> promised to resign unless lie is able to settle the teamsters' strike today The merchants of the city have de manded it and they seem to have something on the man of potato fame I ’ The general impression over tlie stat, is that Shank has Iteen a joke as muj or, but as he has but a month long.’.' to serve it seems they ought to b I able to stomach him that much long, r after having existed three years an l eleven mouths.
