The show is one of the good ones on the road, and you will miss something if you tail to attend. Jacob Buhler and Charles McKean hav eannounced their names as candi-: dates for trustee of Washington township. This makes three in the race,; the other being Ed Augenbaugh of this city. The race promises to be an interesting one. The funeral of the late Ellsworth Merriss was held this morning at the Baptist church at Pleasant Mills, In charge of the Masonic order of this city, and a Baptist minister from Rochester. The body was brought iiere and sent to Fort Wayne on the 11:30 ear, Where it will be cremated. The funeral was very largely attended. ( Mr. Truitt, of Noblesville, formerly on pof the editors of The Ledger of that city and known as a business man of much experience, has been hero for a day or two, looking over tho local field with a view of starting a trust company here. He decided, however, that thetime was not opportune and will not make any further| steps for the present at least. Mr. Lannes McPhetridge of the Indiana Association for the Study and Prevention of Tuberculosis will be I here tomorrow and will make an effort to organize the county for the coming year. This county should sell a hundred thousand Red Cross seals tliis year. If they do it will provide a fund j which can bo used by the local asso-1 elation for caring for any patients in I this territory.
Port Wayne, Ind., Nov. 13- The Indiana emigre** of Mother* and ParentTeachers’ associations opened its fourth semi-annual convention in this city tlifs afternoon and will continue until Saturday. Visits to the local schools comprised this afternoon’s work. The convention will be opened formally this this evening. A play festival by kindergarten children will feature tomorrow's meetings. Also a model educational picture show will lie given and a visit will Im* paid to the children’s rooms at the public library. The state efforts in behalf of the home will lie described by Dr. Stanley Coulter of Purdue university and Dean W. W. Black of Indiana university on Friday evening. The alms, methods and ideals of Parent-Teachers' associations from the standpoint of the school will bo the topic of Miss Anna llrochhausen of Indianapolis on Saturday morning. Miss Maud Van Duren. chairman of the department of Junior Civic leagues of the American Civic associations, 'will givo a lecture on Saturday.
