The Athletics started out strong for blood in the first Inning, finding Tesreau for three hits and making three scores, two of these lieing made on an overthrow by Fiet< her. In the second inning they r-lso made a good showing, getting thr< e hits and counting up two more 1 Fcores. In the seventh they copped two runs and in the eighth one. The Giants failed to show up until the fifth inning when they managed to gel one man across, as also did they In the seventh. A fine baby boy was left at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Girod this morning by old “Dr. Stork” and is sure a. dandy. Mrs. Girod was formerly Miss Matilda Schlickman, daughter of Fred Schlickman. SCARED' liiTis Were Badly Frightened by Three Foreign Workmen Who Seemed Insistent IN KNOWING THEM Followed Girls from the Interurban and Grabbed One by the Coat. Three girls of the city who returned home on the 12:45 interurban car from Fort Wayne last night where they spent the afternoon, were badly frightened on arriving here by three foreign workmen who followed them and seemed insistent on forcing their company upon the girls. The men came Borne from Fort Wayne on the same car, and were drinking heavily. One of them sat .n the seat in tebnt of th egirls and half turned seemed to be listening to everything they said. The two othe.s got off at the Monroe street corner. but the one in front of the girls rode to the interurban station, as did the girls. The two men who got off at the other place followed the car on to the station, when they saw that their friend rode on. When the girls go off and started home, the men folic wed. No home people were on the streets and the girls hurried to the Murray hotel corner, which is always brilliantly lighted, and where often there are people astir. They were terrified to find no one about there, and stopped in the light to -. ait, hoping the men would paae on around them. Such was not the rasp, however. for one of the men grabbed one of the girl's coat and talked in a foreign language, while the other two men sidled up to the other two girls, evidently hoping that each would pro I vide himself with an escort. IS NOT DECIDED Judge Ellis Takes the Matter of the Petition for a New Trial. UNDER ADVISEMENT Arguments on Motion in Murray Hotel Case Closed Last Evening. Beginning at 11 o'clock yesterday I in the Delaware circuit court the ar- ! guments on the motion lor a new trial asked by the applicant in the tmiKer of the Murray Hotel company's application for a liquor 11 cense, were not completed until 5 o'clock last evening. Judge I’llis, tinregular judge of the court, heard Hie arguments, but has not yet given his decision, he having taken the matter under advisement. The late trial was held before Special Judge Thompson, who served during tiiv illness of Judge Kilis, and who decided in favor of the re monatratora to the granting of the II cense, whereupon the applicant re quested a ntw trial of the case.
