Brodbeck, near Bobo, where they spent yesterday, ml were very royallv entertained. I • it h season Is on at the Brodbeck home, where many trees are loaded . tlm lust ions fruit, and samples • re brought hack with them by the visitors. Miss Ida Gunsett was given a happy ur|>ri ■■ last evening at the home of l„-r parents. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ounsett. by the Young People's Lutheran ■ y. Tills was the regular meet-
| ing night and after assembly at the i school house, they went to the GunI sett home where both the business and social meeting was held. The as- | fair terminated in a '‘button party," the entertainment being a unique one. A large button was formed and in the holes appeared-the heads of nigger babies. An inscription; "Don't hit me hut hit the other follow," invited the throwing of buttons into the hob s, and first prizes in this contest were won by the Rev, Wehmeyer and Clara Boltnecht, and the booby by Henry Dierkcs and Clara Weiland. Another i was a button sewing contest. Each ] ] boy was given a square doth, a but- i . ton, needle mid thread. Each girl got' ' a button and they were required to. hunt partners by matching the buttons. Then the boy held th© needle ] while the girl threaded it. and he took the needle mid sewed on the button while the girl held the cloth. The attempts were somewhat clumsy but the boys finally sewed on the buttons, though many at first wondered how to make the knot in the thread big enough so it wouldn't go through the ] hole in the button. Fred Jaebker and j Agnes Haugk won first prizes and Herman Haugk and Marie Boose, the boobies. Mrs. Gunsett was assisted ih , ' serving luncheon by Miss Lulu Lanke-i ' nau. The luncheon carried out the' i button idea. The sandwiches were in button form with big raisins for holes, | the beets had holes cut in th< m, mid ' I the potato salad was in round form with beet dots for holes. Cake and coffee completed the repast. After supper other games were played. Outside guests were Caro and Iva Standiford and Edna Johnson. The Euterpean club will open its season with a G o'clock picnic dinner this evening at the home of Mrs. Jess • ■ Dailey. The Thimble club members enjoyed a good time yesterday afternoon just with its own little coterie of members, i at the home of Mrs. Frep Patterson, bringing their sewing with which they worked until the refreshment hour. The September section of the Ladies’ Aid of the Evangelical church held their last session Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Maynard Johnson, on Winchester street. After the business session, in charge of Mrs J. H. Rilling, refreshments were sen-. ed and a social hour was enjoyed by all, forty-two being present. The fl-' nancial re|>ort was a delightful aur-1 prise. Tim section consists of the fol- ] lowing persons; Mrs. Maynard John-
son, chairman; Mrs. J. a. Smith, Mrs. Clifford I.ee, Mrs. Simon Moore, Mrs. William McHarnes. and Mrs. Merryman. They raised the sum of $35.75 in various ways. o ■■ PUBLIC SALE.
