A party of militant suffragettes in a demonstration at Trafalgar Square, Ixmdon, after a raid on Downing street, where are situated the official residence of the ministers. In the Downing street riots, deck workers joined the women and rioted with them. It was only after a considerable display of force that the police were able to disperse the mob- Broken up in Downing street, the suffragettes and their allies adjourned to Trafalgar Square and later . speeches were made from the Nelson Column. Miss Parkhurst was arrested for Iter part in inciting the mob to disorder ami on July s was sentenced to three months' imprisonment.
