Superintendent L. E. Opliger made a business trip to Berne yesterday afternoon. S. V. Johnson returned to his home at Monroe yesterday afternoon after attending to business in this city. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Brushwiller left yesterday afternoon for Matthews, Ind., where they will visit over Decoration Day. Dr. and Mrs. Jones passed through the city yesterday on their way to Wren, Ohio, where they will visit with Mr. Jones' parents. Mrs. Ed Marschand and daughter, I Lucile, returned yesterday afternoon to their home in Fort Wayne. Thev visited with their daughter and sister, Mrs. Lillie Brandy berry.

Mrs. Hiram Potts and children went to Fort Wayne yesterday to visit with Mrs. Lizzie Moore, Lee Reed returned to his home at Portland yesterday afternoon to visit over Decoration day. Wilbur Porter is among the many from this city attending the motor races at Indianapolis. Edgar Gerber returned from Berne yesterday afternoon, where he attended the funeral of his cousin. Mrs. Alva Nichols, Miss Nellie Nichols and Mr. Clark Spahr spent yesterday afternoon in Fort Wayne. The Misses Genevieve Bremerkamp and Mamie Harting went to Fort Wayne yesterday to visit over today. Mrs. A. P. Chilson of Bryan, Ohio, arrived in th e city yesterday afterj noon to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schaub. Mrs. Harry Horn and daughter, Mary Louise, of Union City are here visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schaub.

Miss Ruth Parrish, who successfully passed the teachers’ examination, j will leav e Saturday for Winona where she will take a normal course. | Miss Louise Brake has gone to Cincinnati, Ohio, to visit'with her uncle, Conrad Brake, and will go with him to his ranch at Kingsley, Kans. Mrs. Fred Rockstroh and sister, Miss Vida Stoneburner, left yesterday for Kendallville, where they will visit with their brother, Tom Stoneburncr.
George Wertzberger of Main street is quite ill of asthma and heart trouble. He lately returned here to live, from Hammond, where he resided several years. Dwight Peterson has accepted a position at Mishawaka, Ind., in one of the cases at that place. While there he will stay with his aunt, Mrs. Edward Wilson. In th e Morris company's ad which appeared in this paper yesterday a mistake was made in the prices of cloth window shades, they being priced at 19c instead of ten cents each. Word from Colorado Springs is that Miss Ruby Sheets is much beter today. She was much pleased when the doctor informed her that her mother, Mrs. Nancy Sheets, of this city, would arrive today. Miss Grace Butler arrived home last evening from Fort Wayne, where she had been visiting with Miss Juanita Boch since Sunday. Miss Boch accompanied her to this city and will remain over Decoration day. Ben Volmer and Charles Schafer left last night over the G. R. & I. for Indianapolis, where they will attend the automobile races. On their way home they will return byway of Kokomo and visit with Frank Johns for a few days. V Mr. Ralph E. Moses has returned from Kirksville, Mo., where he has been taking a course in osteopathy, to remain until next fall, when he expects to return to Missouri and resume his studies.—Fort Wayne Jour-nal-Gazette. j A large number from this city went to Indianapolis to attend the greatest ,500 mile motor race ever held. Some left last night over the Giand Rapids, while a number left earlier in the day, and some of those having automobiles motored their way to the big event.
