Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hower, Mr. and Mrs. Herb Lachot and Miss Gladys Butler formed a motoring party to Ft. Wayne Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. John Jones and children returned to Fort Wayne this morning after a visit with their parents, east of the city. Dan Costello returned to his school work at the Fort Wayne business college this morning after spending Sunday with his parents. Miss Carrie Gallogly has taken a position as clerk at the Bernstein store, I succeeding her sister, Margaret, who was recently married to Elmer Sark. Mr. and Mrs. John Stewart and son, Meredith, and their guests, Mrs. F. A. Armstrong, and daughter, Margaret, of Dayton, Ohio, spent Sunday afternoon in Fort Wayne. x Mrs. Florence Bradbury is spending a week’s vacation at the home of her sister, Mrs. A, F. Welfly. Mrs. Bradbury Is a nurse in the I. O. O. F. home at Springfield, Ohio. Mrs. D. M. Reed has returned to her home in Fort Wayne after a week's visit here. She was accompanied by her mother, Mrs. M Fulldlfkamp, who ' will spend a few days there. Miss Marie Allison of Indianapolis, I who has been visiting in the city with I her grandmother, Mrs. Catherine Allison and friends will leave tomorrow for her home. She will be accompanied by Miss Edna Hoffman who will spend a few days visiting with her. Shafer Peterson, Fred Schaub and Hugh Hite have returned from Rome City, where they spent Sunday. Others v/ho went there and remained for a longer stay are O. L. Vance, J. H. Heller, D. M. Hensley, Tom Reid, Charles Elzey, Lase Ellis and R. C. Parrish. An unique plan has been adopted to rehabilitate the stricken city of Hamilton, Ohio, which suffered more from therecent flood than any other city. Endless chain letters are being sent out, the recipient being requested to send the letter to the secretary of the relief committee, at Hamilton, together with a dollar bill, and write three other letters to friends requesting them to do likewise. Herman Tettman has received some very interesting postal card views of the Dayton flood, from his brother, who resides there. They show the main streets of the city after the floods went down. The streets are literally covered with debris from the buildings torn down by flood and fire. In some places, houses are shown, with the walls torn away, showing the interior of the houses, with the beds and furniture broken and strewn about, presenting a most pitiable state of devastation.
L. - Duff went to Fort Wayne this morning. The condition of John Parr remains very low. He is suffering from abscess of the lungs. Claude Caton of Lagrange was called here Sunday night by the serious illness of his wife, Celia Steele Caton, who has been qule ill the past week at the home of her father, James Steele, west of the city. She is suffering from pleurisy, and it was thought for a while that an operation to drain the lungs would be necessary. She is somewhat better and it Is now thought that this will not be needed.
