William Oman of Bluffton was a business visitor here yesterday. Mrs. Ella VanEman of Willshire, 0., ■went to Fort Wayne yesterday afternoon. Jonas Neuenschwander of near Newville was a business visitor here yesterday afternoon. John Rohner living east of the city, is very sick at his home with lung fever. Mr. Rohner has been suffering for the last week. Mrs. and Mrs. N. H. Wagner went to Fort Wayne yesterday afternoon to visit with relatives and to attend to business. The D. E. Grim family is moving here from Monroe and they will also assit them in getting settledMrs. Grim will go to Fort Wayne tomorrow.

Mrs. A. J. Smith and Mrs. W. P. Schrock went to Fort Wayne this morning. Mrs. J. W. Poling of Redkey is visiting here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. O. Burkhead. Russell Rinehart of Russiaville and Jesse Johnson of Bluffton attended the horse sale here yesterday. The restaurants did a land-office business yesterday accomodating the many visitors at the horse sale. Mrs. Serena Johnson and granddaughter, 110, returned yesterday afternoon from Dixon, Ohio, where they visited several days. William Lautzenheiser, living west of town, lost $25 in town Saturday, divided as follows; Three fives and a ten. Mr. Lautzenheiser is deaf and | dumb, and not overly blessed with this world's goods, and the loss is considerable to him. —Willshire Herald. Mrs. Mahlon Harmon is in receipt of a letter from her daughter, Miss Jessie Philips, who recently entered the International Business college in Forrt Wayne. She likes the studies and is getting along well, although at first it was necessaryy to do double work and take private lessons to catch up with the others as she entered after the term had begun.

Attorney Ed Myers of Fort Wayne ' was a business visitor here today. Mrs. Vernon McGonagle and Mrs. Frank Carroll spent the afternoon in Fort Wayne. Mrs. Clarence Stogdill and twin .daughters, Fay and May, left this j morning for Fort Wayne for a visit. Miss Mata Borchart returned this morning to Fort Wayne after a visit with Miss Marie Heckman for a couple of days. Mrs. D. E. Grim and children of I Monroe passed through the city this .morning enroute to Fort Wayne, to which place they are maving. Mr. and Mrs. David Valenti of Kendallville, former residents of the city, are visiting here. They will be guests of the T. M. Gallogly family over Sunday and will then go to Marion for a visit. William Hart of Huntington. representative of the Union Central Life Insurance company, who will be with the Erwin Realty company !n their branch office in Fort Wayne, also has the agency for Adams county, and will be associated with them in their Decatur office also, while here. The biggest cat story that has ever been let loose on the unsuspecting Ossian public was tola Thursday by William Gibson. Mr. Gibson states that in his efforts to dislodge a large Tom cat from a hole in the wood pile he made use of a red hot poker. Refusing to come out of the hole the cat whirled and seized the red-hot poker In its mouth. Not desiring to prolong the fight, Mr. Gibson gave Tom the field, and when he returned later he found the poker with one of the cat’s teeth imbedded firmly in it. He has the poker to show as evidence. TO HOLD MASS MEETING At M. E. Church Sunday Afternoon at Three O'clock. Announcement is made of a citizens’ local option platform mass meeting to be held at the Methodist church Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock. Addresses will be given by local talent, including lawyers, doctors and business men. John Cunneen, the Chicago machinist and temperance orator, who was secured by the “drys” to assist them in their local option campaign here, again addressed a large audience at I the court room Friday evening, the audience comprising voters of both sides. Mr. Cunneen left this morning for New York, where he will spend a i month in the cause of which he is an | advocate. POLICE COURT. A police call was sent in this afterI noon from the Erie depot, for the po- | lice to arrest a couple of drunks who i were making themselves obnoxious on I the Erie premises. Marshal Peterson , answered the call and escorted the drunks to jail. STRAYED OK STOLEN—from the barns of the Petit Storage Co., Fort Wayne, last Friday night, a bay horse, six years old, weighing about 1400 lbs. A liberal reward will be paid for the delivery of this horse at their stables at Fort Wayne. 49t3
