R., department of Indiana: Your committee on resolutions in memory of our deceased comrade, , H. Purdy, respectfully report; Whereas, Our comrade was enrolled on the twenty-ninth day of November, 1861, for three years, and at the expiration of the term re-enlisted as a private in Company C, 47th regiment, [lndiana volunteer infantry, and was i discharged by reason of the close of [ the war, on October 23, 1865, giving [ nearly four years of his early manhood to the service of his country in her hour of need and served his country [ faithfully from near the beginning to 'the close of the civil war. Resolved, That It is with saddened hearts that we record the death of our esteemed comrade, who departed this life on January 10, 1913, and we [ deem it a privilege and duty to record our appreciation of his noble traits of character, his patriotism, loy- j alty and devotion to his country and .
