Lehman of Berne, and at present instructor of German and Latin at the Central Mennonite College at Bluffton, Ohio, won first prize for baritone solo in a musical contest given under the auspices of the Columbus, Ohio, Eisteddfod association, held on New Year's day'in Memorial hall at Columbus. TO SECURE MR. NELSON Os Monroe to Succeed Martin Jaberg as Teacher. Trustee C. E. Magtey of Root township is making efforts to secure Mr Nelson, a well know'n teacher now residing in Monroe, to succeed Martin Jaberg, as principal of the Monmouth school. Mr. Nelson taught formerly tn Preble township, but is now engaged in business In Monroe He has had excellent succeaa as a teacher. Mr. Jaberg tendered b's resignation to take the position of rural mail carrier, effective January Ith. GIVEN MILITARY BURIAL. With military honor was the body of Robert Niblick. Andrews laid to rest this morning in tie Ray cemetery. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Remans at the Methodist church at >:3O. The pall bearers were drawn from the ranks of the G. A. R and were former companions of the deceased, they being John Ely. Perry Ely, Samuel Chronirter, Ezra Cutting, Nathan Beckner, enry Trimm.
