Vance Will be Able to Come Home Friday—Other Notes. . i A seven-year-old son of William MeKain of Monroe was put on the oper-' ating table this morning for the am- ' pittation of his right legt above the knee. The bone in the leg was found Ito be dead, and this it was thought was caused by a bruise which the lad received at school about ten days or two weeks agt). The operation was performed by home physicians. The lad is getting along as well as is consistent with the severity of the case. A nurse from the Lutheran hospital, Fort Wayne. Is attending the boy. ■ Mrs. O. L. Vance, who was operated upon at the St. Joseph hospital. Fort Wayne, is recovering. It is thought she w4il be able to come honie Friday. Dr. MeOscar'of Fort Wayne and Drs. Clark of this city operated upon Mrs. Joe! Garber of French township, this morning for appendicitis and adhesions of the bowels. The operation was successful and with the good care of the trained nurse. Miss Harshbarger, who is attending her, she will get along nlcqfy. Mrs. Garber has been ill several years. --. o - MASONIC ELECTION. BASKET BALL. Two good games of basket ball are scheduled for next Friday evening, when the local high school team will meet and no doubt defeat the Monroe high school team. And then, too, the Decatur high school girls’ team will play the Fort Wayne high school team. The first game will start promptly at 7:30 and the girls’ game a few minutes after the close of the first game. Some lively playing next Friday. A store at Ohio City was broken into Tuesday night and robbed, according to word received here today by Sheriff Durkin, who was asked to be on the lookout for suspicious characters. The store was robbed of shoes, under clothing, four overcoats, money and other things. A reward of twen-ty-five dollars is offered for the apprehension of the robbers. —- -o IS GETTING BETTER. The condition of Robert Patterson, one of the city's pioneers, who lives with his son-in-law, Charles Myers, in the north part of the city, is much Improved.
