Miss May Weber has returned from Delphos, Ohio, where she attended her brother's wedding and left for Fort Wayne, where she is employed. The Misses Agnes Johnson and Corzine Lindall returned to South Rend yesterday after a visit with the former’s sister, Mrs. Dr. Starkweather. ] Fred Schnrger brought to this office a bunch of grapes that weighed over a pound. At his home they have a large arbor, and the bunch on exhibition as the largest one grown. Tha Misses Kynt Voglewede and Leo,a Bailey drove, to Berne yesterday where Miss Bailey attended to business relating to her school which she will teach near that place. The school will open next Monday. Mrs. Mary A. Johnson left today for a several days’ visit and business trip to Fort Wayne, Warsaw and Aetna Green. An aunt died about three years ago, leaving an estate of which Mrs. Johnson is one Os three heirs, and on this trip Mrs. Johnson will try to i secure a settlement .or her share. Mr. and Mrs. D. V. Steele have returned from Fort Wayne, where they attended the funeral of Mrs. Steele's father, George Middleton Grandchildren who also attended were Edna Steele, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Imler, Mrs. Charles Barnhart and children, Mrs. Ernest Steele. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Steele. ■ W. C. Baker of Bluffton was arrested on the complaint of Peter Huser of Geneva. On July 24th Baker conducted a Shetland pony sale there. A number of Jersey cows were sold at the same time. Huser was the purchaser of one of these cows, for which | the sum of $36.50 was paid. The cow j , has since died with tuberculosis, and Huser has sued to recover the price paid. Ninety-six horses, all of which were purchased in eight days’ time by Bosh, Beery and Watson, are being used on the Indiana guard march. The government is paying $2,000 for the use of these animals for ten days. The horses are declared to be the finest ever assembled for a similar purpose and the regular a. my officers who accompanied the battery- on its trip said that in all their experience on road marches they had never witnessed a bunch of more classy steeds.—Fol t Wayne.
