Mrs. Mary Forbing and Mr. and Mrs. William Holt returned to Arcola yesterday afternoon after attending the funeral of Mrs. Forbing.

Miss Velma Mclntosh returned to Monroe yesteday after a visit since Friday with her cousin, Miss Lucy Mclntosh. Mrs. Dr. Jones and Miss Jessie Rawley of Berne, who were guests of Mrs. J. S. Coverdale, have gone to Wren, Ohio, to visit. Mrs. Frank Christen of Muskogee, Oklahoma, is in the city for a visit with relatives. She came from Indiana jv-’is where she visited for some time. Mr. and Mrs. James P. Haetling and children, and Miss Jessie Meyers left yesterday for Logansport where they will be two months or more’ during the time that Mr. Haefling will be employed there as state accountant. A large number of Sweedish sailors debarked at the Erie station yesterday and caused considerable curiosity by their unique behavior. They weie enroute cast and kept near the depot until the arrival of their train. Mrs. H. A. Fristoe and daughter, Margaretta, returned Sunday afternoon to Rochester, and while here were guests of Miss Annette Moses. They were enroute irom Pleasant Mills where they had been since the funeral of her mother, Mrs. Margaretta Merris.

He owns s a large amount of property here, where he resided until a few years ■' ago. He is as sturdy and healthy as * are most men half his yars.
George W. Gales, the well known fanner and fruit grower, will leave tomorrow for Ellake, Michigan, where he goes to straighten up some affairs with which his son, John, who died recently, was connected He will he absent perhaps a week. Mrs. L. McConnehey and children of Bluffton were called Saturday to Decatur to atteri the illness of her husband, who the past year has been sick with tuberculosis. As soon as he is able to be moved, he will be taken to his home at 513 Central avenue, Bluffton. Mr. McConnehey is a member of the Red Men lodge of Huntington, Ind. The grade work on this section of the Erie railroad improvement is taking on some importance. The part west of Decatur is completed up to the water tank and is ready for gravel and steel. Over east the work is progressing nicely and the men are about ready to cross the old Piqua road on their way to this city. The grade through the city will not be made until the road is ready to lay the steel. Frank M. Schirmeyer, well known telephone, real estate and business man, and president of the Old Home Week association, was taken home from his office this morning, sick. It is not believed his condition is serious. but he will have to be very careful. He was feeing badly yesterday and was able to spend but a part ot the day at his work. He came down as usual this morning, but shortly afterward became ill and was taken home. The Grand Rapids and Indiana recently dispensed with the section which extended from a mile north of Monroe to tour miles south of that town and dividing it in two added a half to each connecting section. This now makes each of the two remaining sections over seven miles long and the company have sent each section boss a motor hapdcar with which to get to his work. The little cars are equipped to carry nearly a ton and afford a rapid means of transit, they being able to run about twenty miles per hour with a full load. — ; O Are you going to use any cement blocks, cement roofing?
