Miss Mayme-Deininger left yesterday morning for Fort Wayne, where she met a friend, Miss Zoa Anselman, who will go to Chicago for a brief stop. From there they will proceed to Maskinac Island to spend a week or so. Bartholomew county has a bumper apple crop. Bert Taylor of Harrison has just marketed there, 1,250 bushels of Early Transparent apples which he harvested from a four-acre orchard on his farm lie received $1,400 for his crop. Clem Yaney, who has been with the Indiana colony at Berthune, Saskatchewan, Canada, reports those from this vicinity healthy and doing well. After a visit in Adams county with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Yaney, he will return to Bethune, to ■ help “Sell” Baker with his farming and may remain there permanently. Irvin Brandyberry and family have gone to Angola, where they will have an outing at the lakes nearby. Miss Neva Branyberry, who was obliged to return home from the state normal at Terre Haute, on account of illness, will finish her studies at the Angola school, thus allowing her the extra hours at the lakes w’ith the other members of the family. Mr. and Mrs. I. Bernsteine left yesterday for Ft. Wayne starting a two weeks pleasure trip. From there they will go to Columbia City for a short stay with her borther thence to South Bend to visit with her father, M. Flox. Chicago will also be included in their trip but this stop will be a business one remaining for Several days. From there they will proceed to Spring Valley to visit with Mr. Bernsteine’s folks also going to Davenport, Moline and other places of interest before their return home. Mr. and Mrs. I. Baxter made a business trip to Fort Wayne today. j Mrs. Dorsey Ake and children of ( Clifford Ray, Colo., who have been ( visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Gibson, of Route 3, left today for their homes. Miss Mayme Deininger, who went to Fort Wayne yesterday, left yesier day morning for Chicago, where she will join a friend and they will then leave for a lake trip to Macinack Island. C. C. Hake of the Pennsylvania machine shop, had his hand badly cut and bruised while at work at his machine this morning. He went to the office of Dr. C. B. Stemen, the company’s surgeon, to have his injury dressed.—Fort Wayne News. Mr. Schug, representing the man who are about to locate a mitten fa<tory here, was in the city Monday afternoon looking after some of the preliminary arrangements. The gentlemen interested in the deal own a mitten factory at Geneva and an over al factory at Berne, and have made a success of the business. The plant here will be conducted as a separate institution, neither of the other factories to be moved to this city. It will be conducted as a corporation and will be located in the loft of the Ervin block on East Main street.—Hartford City News in Fort Wayne Sentinel. jj. Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Baxter, son. Floyd, and daughter, Grace, have returned from a very pleasant visit at the beautiful country home of Mr. and Mrs John H. Yaney, five miles south of Celina. Ohio. They also spent a day in Celina and Coldwater, Ohio, having driven the entire trip. They report many fields of corn and oats under water, many of which can never be cut. The most amusing feature of this visit was the catching of 207 fine fish, ranging in length from eight to sixteen inches, and were caught with bare bands or pitchforks in low places in an orchard that had been flooded from Coldwater creek. They also report another big rain there last Sunday morning. The high waters there has caused much damage to the farmers. Mrs, Yaney was formerly Mrs. William Zerkel of this city, and is a sister of Mrs. Baxter. The visit was a most delightful one.
