Joe Kortenbrer was at Monroe today looking after business between trains. W. H. Myers returned this afternoon from Berne where he was on business for a brief time. Mrs. Lee Hindman and daughter returned to Kendallville after a visit with Mrs. Charles Christen. Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Andrews went to Fort Wayne today to visit with their aunt, Mrs. Frances McDonald. Tony Hackman will leave Thursday for Watson, Saskatchewan, Canada, where he will spend the summer on his tract of land. Carl Moses left for that place Sunday, and his father, James Moses, will go in a week. B. J. Terveer is home from Toledo, Ohio, where he spent Saturday and Easter Sunday with his daughter, Mrs. Clem Uhl. He reports her as doing nicely and recovery now being assured. Mrs. Terveer is still with % her daughter, having been there more than a week. J E. \V. Dailey of Bobo yesterday sold twenty-four head of steers to Emery . Church, the well known grain and ca«-' tie man, which were shipped to Indianapolis for private sales. The bunch was as fine a one as any one would care to lay eyes on and brought the ‘ handsome price of $1,700. Former Deputy Clerk D. O. Roop was a visitor in the city yesterday. His pupils showed their esteem and appreciation in presenting him a beautiful hand-painted picture, a tie pin and handkerchiefs. Dr Noah Zehr of this city has been called to Berne on account of the death oi ills mother, Mrs. Michael Zehr, who succumbed to heart disease and dropsy. Death came Sunday afternoon after an illness of nearly eighteen months. Mrs. Zehr was sev-enty-three years of age. Besides Dr. Zehr, another son, in San Francisco, survives Fort Wayne Sentinel. Fred Smith, who spent Sunday here | with his family, left yesterday for jntpelier, Ohio, where lie is conducting a vaudeville and moving picture show which he recently purchased. The family will move there later after school is out here, their little daughter, Vesta, being in school. Mr. Smith was a former employee of the tnterur >an, where he served as motorman and conductor, and later being employed at the car barns.
