Bert Bailey of Monroe returned to his home at. noon, he being a business caller here this morning. Mrs. Glen Glancc-y returned to her home at Monroe, she being here between trains, shopping, this morning. Alexander Leßrun, a former resfdent of this city, but now of New Philadelphia, was here today to cast his vite. John Mayer of Monroe was In the city this morning attending to some , business affairs, which required his at- . tention between trains. Ex-Trustee David Steele of Kirkland , township was numbered among the j business callers here this morning, go- . ing to Fort Wayne later for a short while. At the meeting of the German Reformed Ladies' Aid at the home of Mrs. Martin Miller tomorrow afternoon, the Adult Bible class, of which Mrs. Henry Moyer is teacher, will conduct a pastry sale and also a bazaar in which they will have fancy articles for sale, suitable for Christmas gifts.

Peter Kirsch returned this afternoon from Portland, where he was attending to business affairs during the day. Jesse Christen of Fort Wayne came home to vote, and while here was the guest of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Christen. Mrs. W. A. Kuebler and daughter. Miss Marcella, who have been visiting with friends in Chicago, returned home last evening. J. E, Coarding of Sturgis, Mich., a former resident of this county, is here renewing his acquaintances and making a short visit with relatives. ing Red Cross Christinas seals for I your Christmas package. Miss Emma Terveer, who has been , visiting with her sister, Mrs. Clem Uhl at Toledo for several weeks, returned home. She was accompanied by Will Dowling, who spent Sunday with her. E. Schlickman, who suffered a broken rib and other injuries to his back some time ago, is still confined to his house, though he is able to be about. He will probably be unable to be out for a week. Mrs. Christ Weldy, who had the misfortune to fall and break her arm on Saturday last, is still experiencing great inconvenience with the injured member, and some weeks will be necessary until the same heals. Today being election day brought many from throughout the county to the city to ascertain the probabilities of the result, the correctness of which will have to be decided with the counting of the ballots this evening. Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Stewart and babe of six miles east of the city, left yesterday afternoon for Fort Wayne, where they visited with relatives over night, and this morning left for Otsego, Mich., for a two weeks’ vlHil with their father and mother. The advancement on the new city hall the past few days has been marked greatly from the rapidity which the building is being constructed. Mrs. Charles Schenck and Miss Mary Cowan of Pleasant Mills, Mr and Mrs. Harry Cowan and Miss Lulu Buchanan of Willshire, Ohio, went to Fort Wayne Saturday to see Dr. Cowan who underwent a serious operation at the Lutheran hospital. They reported the doctor resting a little easier when they left. John Wemhoff, who has been serving as bookkeeper for the Indiana Lighting company for a year and a ha lf resigned last, evening and from now on will take a week s rest before commencing work at the Perrine Armstrong Lumber plant in Fort Wayne. While in the service of the local company he has proven himself a valuab e man and his presence will be missed b y a ii with whom he has been associated.
Vince Forbing spent Sunday in Bluffton. Mrs. Tom Haefling is expected to arrive from Indianapolis to make a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Voglewede. Cecil Cole Has taken a position at the Holthouse drug store, working on Saturdays and after school hours through the week. Miss Agnes Geary of Cleveland, 0., who is visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Geary, went to Fort Wayne this afternoon on business. Postmaster Lower reports letters remainingt in the Decatur postoffice for Rhea Vanola, Jean Bonnar, Ethel Wilson. G. H. Uhl, Glen Thomas, Mrs. May Thrasher, Julius Samuelsoh, Ralph Lawson, Marguerite Ensch, Etta Gosseeti. The various show windows are taking on their Christmas decorations and in a few days will present many beautiful sights. The pine trees will also arrive in a few days and everything will be here to make the coming Christmas one of the many happy ones as usual. The W. R. C. has engaged the Star theater for Friday evening, when the proceeds of the show for that evening will be used by the W. R. C. for charity. There will be special music by a chorus and readings by others. Everybody come and help swell the | charity fund. The I. O. O. F. lodge held a very interesting meeting at their lodge rooms last evening, at which time a number of business matters up for disposal wre attended to. A large attendance was present for the meeting and a good time was realized from the evening spent together. Willie Wildflowers, a happy-go-luek.v tramp, assisted by a well selected company, will appear at the opera house Wednesday, December 13th, in a three-act comedy. ‘‘The Girl and the Tramp," on that night. Mr. Frayzee of Lafayette, one of the officials of the Indiana Lighting company, was in the city yesterday, looking after business pertaining to the local plant. While here he met one of his old-time friends, Mr. E. E. Rice, and companion school teachers in Franklin county some years ago. W. A. Kuebler has gone to Shelby, Ohio, to pay a visit with his ag*il mother, who is in failing health, and whose condition is regarded as serious. She has reached an advanced ; age and owing to this great care is | necessary, and for this reason Mr. i Kuebler wished to visit her for a short while, at least.
