LIBRARIANS’ CONFERENCE. Charles A. Greathouse, state super- ’ intendant of public instruction is chairman of a state committee being \ selected by the Indiana Library School association to consider the essentials of training for librarianship, the betterment of the Indiana LibrarySchool and its maintenance. Monthly conferences are to be held in the office of the state superintendent. The first of these will be December 11th at 9 o’clock, when John A. Lapp, state R legislative reference librarian, has been invited to speak on the essenit tials he deems necessary for the 116 brarian of the business or industrial libraries. Mr. Lapp is a member of .< the industrial training commission, and is especially interested in indus- | trial libraries. Miss Nannie W. Jayne, I librarian of the Alexandria Public Library, has been asked to speak on the essentials in the training of a librar- 1 j lan for service la the library of a' small city. Miss Jayne is a graduate of the Winona Technical Institute Library School, which was succeeded by the Indiana Library School. Members of the Library School association believe that the informal conferences will be productive of a beter understanding regarding library training. At the January meeting there will be a discussion of the report from the A. L. A. conference, to be held at Chicago, January 2 to 6. —Indianapolis Star.
