HELD A REUNION L. N. Grandstaff and Bert Crouse Celebrated FortyI seventh Anniversary OF THEIR ' ESCAPE From Guerillas in Civil War —Mr. Crouse Visited Here This Year. L. N. Grandstaff, of Monmouth, commander of the local G A. R., and one of the active veterans of the civil war, with his friend, Bert Crouse, of Hicksville, Ohio, gave this office a call this morning. The two men Monday celebrated the forty-seventh anniversary of their escape from the guerI illas near Centerville, Tenn., while i they were serving in the civil war, I and being the only two out of a large party of Union men who escaped. It will be rembered that the two men were shot with the others of their party and left on the field for dead, afterwards reviving and making their escape back to the Union forces. Every year on this anniversary, these two resurrected from the dead, meet with each other, and spend a day in reunion. These reunions are held at the home of each in turn, Mr Crouse coming here this year. Ho was the guest of Mr. Grandstaff over last night and he stated this morning that he had a much better bed last night than he had forty-seven years ago, and was not nearly so afraid either. The story of their wonderful escape has been made the subject of an interesting story by one of the standard magazines. DRUG STORES TO CLOSE.
