Here Is More of the Same Question. v ... //u M w° igp * What are tires going to cost per mile? Ford '1 ires enjoy a 50 per cent safety factor. Ford Tires gives 0,000 miles. Ford Tires of Diamond make cost $76.70 a set. Under some cars tires are overloaded. Anoted tire expert states “the wear and tear on tires is inversely propor- : >nal to the cube of the load they carry; that to double the load the wear and tear is multiplied by eight. Now if a Ford tire with a 50 per cent safety, factor does 6,000 miles, what should he the same commensurate mileage on a car with a 25 per cent safety factor? With no safety factor? Ford tires carry 67 pounds with the privilege of 100. The 25 per cent car carries 80 pounds, with the privilege of 100. The last carries 100 pounds. The 6.000 miles multiplied by the cube of 67 and divided by the cube of 80 gives 3,522 miles. Second 6,000 miles multiplied by the cube of 67 and divided by the cube of 100 gives 1804 miles. Suppose these castings cost you $24. 4q each, $97.60 per set. In the one case nearly three cents per mile, and in the other neai ly five and a half cents per mile. Ford tire mileage is right at one and a quarter cents per mile. You Are Now at the Question Tais car will cost you but $700.00. No difference in the car but price.
