Millard Burns and family have gone to Rome City to spend a few days' vacation. Mont Fee has arrived home from his regular trip and will spend Sunday here with his family. Master Don Thomas, who has been making a visit here with his sisters, left this morning for his home at Elkhart. Mrs. John Thompson returned to her home tt Monroe today after a pleasant visit here with friends. John McClish was at Portland todayon business and from there will leave for a number of other nearby pl ar es on a similar mission. John Schug. who arrived home bom his regular trip, went to Berne this morning in the interest of the firm which he represents.

John S. Falk made a business trip to Berne and Geneva today. Bob .Meibers has returned from a , short stay with friends at Delphos, Ohio. Mrs. Hugh Miller of Muncie is in the city for a visit with her mother, Mrs., Henry Winnes. Commissioner Jim Hendricks of Monroe was a business caller in the city this morning. I A number of people from this city took in the excursion tp St. Louis this morning. FUNK THE SAME I Tilden Lister Taking Lots of ( Outdoor Exercise For His Betterment, Bernard Terveer, who three weeks t ago tomorrow underwent an operation ' for appendicitis, is steadily improv ing, and is now- able to sit up for an hour or so at a time. He is still very weak, and careful attention is neces sary that he will not overdo himself. The condition of Mrs. Harry Funk. I who is at the St. Joseph hospital. Ft. Wayne, for the operation which she underwent the middle of the week foi complications, is quite serious, but she is holding her own. The operation was , a serious one and her recovery will i likely be slow. Tilden Lister 1s slowly improving t from the severe attack of hemor | rhages of a number of weeks ago, and ' which left him very weak. Fresh air ! does him as much good as anything and he is getting plenty of exercise these days. Peter Mougey, the blacksmith, is numbered among those on the sick list, suffering from a severe attack <> blood poisoning, and which is requiring careful nursing and attention. Charles Ball, who has been a veryserious patient with typhoid fever, re mains about the same, and will be such for a number of days yet, until the crisis comes. He is doing as well as could be expected and his recovery it is thought will soon be more rapid ■ o Ed Luttman of Magley has returned to his home after a short stay here on business.. Mrs. S. O. Irwin of Winchester arrived in the city today and will spend Sunday with her daughter, Mrs. J. C. Patterson. Mary A. Jonnson, who has been making a visit at Latta. Ohio, for a few days returned home after enjoyinc a very pleasant trip. Rollie Reynolds, a traveling sales man out of Indianapolis, is in the city so ra few days’ visit with his parents,. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Reynolds. Fred Werst left for Fort Wayne to day, where he will visit with friends over Sunday and then accompany his wife back home, she having been there all this week. Twenty-seven tickets were sold last night for the St. Louis excursion, which the Clover run this week. It is anticipated that there will be more sold tonight. Miss Vivian Dawson, who has been making a visit at Cicero of a week ot more, has returned home. She was accompanied by Miss Dessie Johnson, who will make a return visit with her. Miss Beatrice Tucker and Mr. Dick Tucker, daughter and son of Mr. and Mrs. George Tucker, former residents here, now living on a big 320-acre stock farm near Van Buren, are here for a visit with Schafer Peterson and other relatives and friends.
