Mrs. Al Burdg was at Berne and Geneva today and will be absent several days attending to business affairs.

She is on her way home from Bristol, Ind., where she has been the past few months, during the sickness and death of her mother. Word from the bedside of Howard ■ Shackley, at the home of his son, Samuel, near Peterson, where a week ago tomorrow he was stricken with hemorrhages of the stomach, is to the es- • feet that he is still quite serious andj the outcome is doubtful. Should he | suffer another hemorrhage it is said , he cannot survive. Mr. Shackley has l been afflicted with stomach trouble for I many years, ulcers finally resulting.

Ed Luttman, the Magley merchant, 1 was a business caller here this morn-1 Ing. Mrs. Sarah Fisher returned this noon from Root township where she spent the night with her daughter, Mrs. H. E. Sutler, being a guest there at supper last evening also. The Butler farm was the scene of the annual threshing yesterday.
