Fulk of Bluffton changed cars here this morning on his way to Fort Wayne. J. D. Tucker of Monroe was an attendant at the installation, initiation and banquet of the Modern Woodmen last evening. Miss Ruby Hastings of Grand Rapids, Mich., a traveling saleslady, passed through the city this morning on her way to Fort Wayne. Miss Stella Chronister has returned from a visit with her sister, Mrs. Arthur Porter, at Bluffton. Mr. and Mrs. Porter are rejoicing over the birth of a daughter. Mrs. Cecelia Jacobs has returned to her home at after being in the city over night on her way home from Fort Wayne, where she was called on account of the serious illness of her nephew, William Wagner. Word from Jeffersonville is to the effect that Theodore Dropploman, w’ho was recently very seriously sick and at the point of death, is greatly improved, so much so that he has returned to his work. His Decatur friends are much pleased to hear of hfs recovery. Albert Enward Engelking, infant 1 son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Engelking. 1310 Webster street, died at 8 o’clock Wednesday morning at the age Os five weeks. The father of the little one is in the employ of A. H. Perfect & Co. Fort Wayne Sentinel. Mrs. Engelking was formerly Miss Zeser of Adams county. • vi , Mrs. George Metherd left this morn- , Ing for Tocsin to visit her sister, Mrs. Adaline Dailey, after a pleasant visit with Mrs. M. Meibers and family and her nieces and nephews, the Niblicks, and many other friends. From there she will go to visit with her sister, Mrs. Bell, and family, seven miles west of this city.

I , Miss Rose Albright returned on the 4 o'clock car yesterday afternoon to Fort Wayne after spending the day with Miss Tena Schurger. Her mother, Mrs. Catherine Albright, and grandson, Clyde, will remain at the Schurger home tar a longer visit. Clem Voglewede has gone to Jonesboro. Ark., where he will enjoy a several weeks' hunting trip. Upon his arrival there he will be joined by Sam and Pete Franks, who have been there for some time and they expect to capi ture some big game before the trip Is ended. Clyde Rice, the city mail carrier, today shipped a pen of fancy pigeons to J. T. Foster of Elkhart, Mr. Foster to use them as show birds in the large pigeon show' to be held in Elkhart. Mr. Rice makes a specialty of fancy , birds and Is shipping them to many foreign cities. Referee Sol A. Wood has set January 16th as the date for hearing the R. K. Allison case. Mr. Wood was recently appointed master in chancery at this hearing, which is for the purpose of determining whether or not Mr. Allison is solvent, as he claims. — Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette.

Miss Cecil Eady is able to be about again after an attack o fthe grip. Charles Roop of Route 1 left today for Bucyrus, Ohio, for a visit with relatives. Miss Frances Gaffer is suffering from a very severe attack of tonsilitls today. Miss Nell Brown of Willshire, transferred here this morning enroute to Ft. Wayne. Oscar Damar of Churusbusco Is visited the funeral of his nephew,' Lee Burk. Peter Wagner of near New Corydon is visiting with his son, Philip Wagner today. Miss Irina Houk went to Monroeville today, where she will be the guest of friends. Mrs. H. E. Sowers and daughter, Winifred, will leave tomorrow for their future home at Sharon, Pa. The students of the Decatur high school are wrestling with their semiannual examinations. Those having an average of ninety or more are excused from the tests, much to their rejoicing.
