A little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bowers, who recently removed here from Van Wert, Ohio, is very seriously sick with typhoid fever. Meibers was at Kendallville on business today. Mrs. Shafer Peterson Is recovering from a week’s Illness with the grip. Mrs. Dick Hill and daughter, Mabe), went to Monmouth to visit with relatives. John Houk of the north part of the city is confined to his home with the grip. Mrs. Charles Walters went to Fort Wayne this afternoon for a visit with relatives. Miss Lizzie Kortenbrer went to Ft. Wayne to visit over New Year’s with her sister, Mrs. F. M. Miller. EH Ray of Berne was a business caller in the city today, returning to his home on the afternoon train. Mrs. J. M. Frisinger and daughters, Fanny and Ruth, and son, Richard, spent the afternoon in Fort Wayne. Miss Lydia Bleeke left this afternoon lor Fort W’ayne for a visit until after New Year’s with her sister. H. Fred Scott returned to Fort Wayne today after visiting over Christmas with A. D. Artman and family. The Misses Callie and Nettie Ruhl returned today to Middletown after visiting over Christmas with Miss Ruby Artman. Will Geary of Sydney, Ohio, who has been making a visit with his parents, since the holidays, left today for his place of business. Clyde and Pearl Baumgartner, Linn Grove, who have been in the city the guests of friends for several days, returned today to their home. Rufus Stuckey of Berne, who has been a traveling salesman for a number of years, was In the city today on his way home for a short visit with his parents. Mayor Teeple has gone to Van Wert Ohio, where he was called by the illness of his sister, Mrs. J. L. Stoops, who has been suffering from tuberculosis for some time. Curtis Cline is at St. Mary's, Ohio, where he is cutting stone to be used in the new four-story Rose oper.i house erected there. Will Richards of this city is foreman of the men. Bernard Terveer, who has been off duty for a number of weeks from the Old Adams County bank because of sickness, reported for duty this morning. The Misses Vera and Nell Meyers went to Fort Wayne to spend the day with their sister, Miss Irene, who is in the Hope hospital nurse’s training class. Mrs. Ernestine Helman, Mrs. Joseph Heiman and son, John, have gone to Massillon, Ohio, for a several weeks’ visit with the former’s son, August Heiman. George Thomas, Clem Coic’uin and John Robert left at noon today for Anderson, where they were called on account of the death of their cousin, Charles Colchin, which occured at that place yesterday. Mrs. William Dadison returned yesterday afternoon to Fort Wayne after a ten days’ visit with her daughter, Mrs. Robert Fritzinger, east of the city. Mrs. Fritzinger and new daugh[l ter are getting along exceedingly well. J Fred Colchin left this morning for Rfenderson to attend the funeral of his r feusin, Charles Colchin.
