Mrs. C. C. Wilder of Monmouth was shopping hew yesterday afternoon. Milton Girod returned this morning from a short business trip to Monroe. Mr. and Mrs. 0. T. William Hirschey of Berne, who has been at Fort Wayne, changed cars here this morning on his way home. Raymond Bremerkamp, who has been attending to business matters at Portland for several days, returned this morning. Miss Anna Bultemeier returned to her home at St. Johns on the 4 o’clock car yesterday afternoon after shopping here. Voglewede is suffering from a sore hand, which he injured when he was but fourteen years old and which troubles him still at regular intervals. Sherman Powell went to Warsaw today to attend the funeral of a brother minister, Rev. R. E. Baker, whose death occurred Monday, and whose funeral was held this afternoon at 1:30 o’clock. Rev. C. T. Payne went to Ft. Wayne to visit with his daughter, Mrs. Louis Sherry, at the St. Joseph hospital. She is getting along well and will probably be able to come home the first of the week. Mrs. Iva Potts of Massilon, Ind., who has been visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Lew Hughes in the north part of the city for several days, left today for Hoagland, where she will make a short visit with friends there. Sloppy weather for a fact, and no one knows it better than the reporters whose duty it is to hustle about all kinds of weather and look for news, that always seems more troublesome to chase down this kind of weather than any other. , Superintendent E. E. Rice will give an address at the meeting of the Sunday school board of the Methodist church, which will be held at the church Sunday afternoon. The subject of his address will be “Some Practical Points on Teaching.”

Manager Bosse has secured for the next attraction the "Rosary and which will appear at the opera house Friday the sixth. It is to give performances at the Majestic in Fort Wayne and Mr. Bosse is to be congratulated upon the securing of this troupe. Mrs. John Bright, and children of Craigville were Christmas guests of her father, C. C. Cloud, and family. The Christmas tree and its lighting was a happy feature of Saturday evening when Harry Cloud and family and Joe Cloud and family were also guests. Miss Pruda Danner, who has been employed as saleslady with the Calloway Dry Goods company of Cambridge City for some time, spent Christmas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Danner, who reside near Salem. Miss Danner returned to Cambridge City yesterday. Lew Ellingham left over the Clover Leaf yesterday morning for Indianapolis where he will resume his duties as secretary of state, after a day or two here, attending to business am. enjoying a visit with friends. Els son, Miller, is spending the wee* as the guest of Dick Heller. Dr. J. M. Miller left this morning on the 8130 car for Monmouth on professional business, to attend the five-months-old babe of Mr. and Mrs Martin Marhenke, which is quite sick with pneumonia. The babe was very bad Wednesday and at one time was thought to be dying. It was reported as somewhat better today. Mrs. John Good and sons, John. Lawrence and Chester, of Gas City, and former residents of this rfity, transferred here this morning on the. way to Massilon, Ohio, where they will make their home. Mr. Good, who has been at that city for the past two months, is employed at the tin plate works. Joe Wherry and family of Union township are visiting with Mrs. Wherry’s sister, Mrs. S. S. Magley, at Monmouth. before leaving next week for Turlock. California, where they will spend the winter. Mrs. Wherry has two sisters, Miss Rose Fleming and Mrs Newton Brown—the latter formerly being Miss Libble Fleming of this city—living at Turlock, and the Wherrys will visit with them during their stay there.

Joseph Winteregg of Berne was in the city looking after business interests. Mrs. Jeff Addy and children of Root township were shoppers here returning on the 11:30 car. This is certainly fine weather for lagrippe and many in this city are reported as being victims. Clem Uhl, who has been the guest of Miss Clara Terveer, has returned to his home at Toledo. Miss Mabel Melchi went to Fort wayne this afternoon to be the guest of the John Krick family. Mrs. Amanda Breiner of Willshire, Ohio, transgferred here this morning on her way to Fort Wayne for a visit.
