Tom Baker of Marion, Ind., was n business caller in the city yetterday. Miss Ines Snellon of Willshire, Ohio, visited here over Sunday with friends. Mrs. Mary Marbough was at Berne this morning, where he made a short visit with friends. Russ Harruff of Fort Wayne spent Sunday here with his parents, Mr and Mrs. Harvey Harruff. Mr. and Mrs. Levi Poling were guests over Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Ves Venis at Hoagland. Fred Hencher returned to his work at Huntington after spending Sunday here with Mrs. Hencher. Joseph Zehr of Geneva returned to nis home after being a business caller in the city last evening. Mr. and Mrs. John Niblick were at Berne today, where they spent the day on their farm near that place. Harmon Bosse left early this morning for Chicago, where he will look after some business for a few days. Bess Schaffner of Willshire, who spent Sunday as the guest of her parents, returned to the city yesterday. Mrs. Elizabeth Wilkinson, a trained nurse of Fort Wayne, visited over Sunday with D. B. Erwin and family. William Auman of St. John’s was a business visitor here yesterday, returning to his home on the 4 o’clock car. Harmon Johns of Bluffton was in the city this morning for a short visit with his .parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Johns. Lawrence Biggs, who is employed at Fort Wayne visited here over Sunday with his parents. Irvin of Winchester is here for a visit with her daughter, Mrs. J. C. Patterson, who has been very sick for several days. Miss Addie Fuhrman of Hope. Mich., who is visiting here, spent Sunday at Hoagland the guest of Mr, and Mrs. Frank Bobylia. , Miss Lily Venis of Hoagland was shopping here yesterday. Miss Venis has just returned from a several days' visit with Miss Sadie Barger, near Magley. J. A. M. Adair and Judge Moran of Portland were among the visiting guests who attended the banquet given Monday evening at the Murray hotel in honor of L. G. Ellingham. Mrs. Kae Scherger and son, Thomas, and their cousin. Miss Anna Kuhns, of Seneca county, Ohio, are here for a visit with Mrs. Scb.erger’s father, John Schurger, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Archbold of Ft. Wayne are rejoicing over the birth of a son» This makes M. V. B. Archbold a grandfather and J. L. Edge of this city a great-grandfather. Mrs. George Garard is at, Peoria, 111., with her new grandson, a son born to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith, recently. Mrs. Smith was formerly Miss Bess Garard of this city, one of the telephone operators. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Arnold and Mrs. James Manley and children, Myrtle and Harry, visited Sunday with the patter’s daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sheets, of near Convoy, Ohio. Postmastef has letters remaining uncalled for at the Decatur postofflee for A. J. Gammon, J. W. Bridge, Rachel Knavel, Frank Harris. O. Goldine, W. Miller Keller, E. W. Roberts, Mrs. Elih Smith, Lucy Cochel, Mrs. Alice Whickman. Mrs. W. C. Patterson and children returned last evening to their home at Fort Wayne. Mrs. Patterson, who has been visiting her mother, Mrs. Abe Brown, who has been sick the past month, reports that she is recovering nicely. Dr. and Mrs. Fred Patterson will move this week into the D. B. Erwin property on North Second street, which has been vacated by the Malley family, who now reside in the Jennie Fuhrman' residence, corner Fourth and Adams street The Misses Rose and Dolly Beam and their brother, Charles Beam, wife and children, who had been at Willshire, Ohio, over Sunday, where they attended the funeral of their uncle, Jacob Beam, transferred here yesterday afternoon on their way to their home at Fort Wayne. The death of Mr. Beam occurred Friday evening at his home in Willshire, Ohio. He had been ailing ror several months with a complication of diseases, and had been a patient in the hospital at Fort Wayne for some time.
REVOLUTION IS ON Mexicans Fighting the Royal Forces in Various Parts Today. U. S. ARMY OUT Patroling Banks of the Rio Grande to Prevent Smuggling of Arms. (United Press Service.) El Paso, Texas, Nov. 22 —(Special to Daily Democrat) —A real revolution is in progress in Cbiruhua. Bloody fighting between royal troops and insurgents is reported from many places. A pitched battle is on at Pirrel, where a band of revolutionists gathered and after dynamiting the town, fled to the hills. They were pursued and routed. All telegraph wires have been commandered by the government and a system of censorship is being maintained. A force of revolutionists is reported to be gathering in the east section of Derango. headed by Gomez Palatio, and they have declared for Mecaro for president. Reports by telephone from the interior state that troops are being massed at many points. United States troops are patroling the banks of the Rio Grande to prevent the smuggling of arms and ammunition into Mexico by the revolutionists. Lerado, Texas. Nov. 22 —(Special to Daily Democrat)—News fro mthe interior differ as to the extent of the revolution, but it is known that several serious clashes have occurred between the government troops and the revolutionists. El Paso, Texas, Nov. 22—(Special to Daily Democrat) —It is reported here that 2,000 Yaqui Indians will join the revolutionists. The Indians have opposed the government for years. o Edison Brock of Loomis, N. Y., is here for a visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Brock.
