Samuel Darr and Emanuel Hart of near Monroeville were business visitors here today. Shannon Bech of Tocsin was in the city yesterday for a short visit with Walter Johnson. Abner Parrish, who has been sick for several months, became worse yesterday but Is somewhat better today. Miss Louise McClellan of Fort Wayne returned home this morning after a visit here with Miss Lucile Case. Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Helm left today noon for Elkhart and thence to Clinger lake. Mich., where they will enjoy an outing. Mrs., H. F. Schinnerer and son, William, of Willshire, Ohio, transferred here this noon for Fort Wayne, where will visit. Appropriate religious services will be held tomorrow in all of the city’s churches, a cordial invitation being extended to the public, to attend. August Heiman of Massilon, Ohio, is the guest of his brothers, south of the city. He will leave in a few days for Houston, Tex., where he will look after some timber business. Martin Mylott, who was in attendance at the Elks’ convention held at Detroit this week, returned to the city last evening, and reports it one of the best and largest gatherings he has attended for some time. Miss Mamie Harting, a clerk at the Baughman five and ten cent store, will leave Monday for St. Henry and Lima, Ohio, where she will spend her two weeks’ vacation. Her place at the store will be filled by Miss Velma Porter during her absence. Mr. and Mrs. John Lachot returned home yesterday, Mrs. Lachot having accompanied her husband on his regular trip for the company he represents. While gone they visited at Sturgis, Mich., Goshen. Angola, Butler, Fort Wayne and Rome City. The social to be given by the local lodge of the Modern Woodmen promises to be one of much interest and -great preparations are being made by the members to have it complete in every respect. Although the date and place have not been set it will be announced in a few days and every one should be on the look-out. Mrs. Herman Sellemeyer and her guests, Mrs. Everhardt and daughter, of Indianapolis left this morning for Defiance, Ohio, where they will be the guests of Rev. and Mrs. N. E. Vitz. Mrs. Sellemeyer is the mother of Mrs. Vitz and Mrs. Everhardt is a sister of the Rev. Vitz. They will attend the corner stone laying of the new church being built there by the Rev. Vitz’ congregation. Mrs. Ed Marhenke of near St. John’s attended the funeral of her sister-in-law. Mrs. Lizzie Muller, at Fort Wayne Friday afternoon. She also called on her husband, Ed Marhenke, who is a patient at the Lutheran hospital, where he underwent an operation for appendicitis and gall ductl trouble several weeks ago. Otto Reppert left today noon for Cincinnati, Ohio, to spend several weeks’ vacation. Mrs. Mattie Buffenbarger and children left today for Berne, where they will visit with friends for some time. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hurst and children will spend Sunday with relatives at Pleasant Mills, Emanuel Hart of near Monroeville was looking after some business interests here today, Miss Jessie McLain and Lettle Lang will spend Sunday with friends at Rome City. C. C. Ernst and W. H. Lehne, who were at' Detroit for several days, re turned home last evening. Mrs., George Zimmerman will be the guest of Mrs. Clem Voglewede at Rome City over Sunday. Mrs. John Buhler of Marion arrived in the city this noon for a visit with her father, Thomas Fisher. Mr. and Mrs. John Heller and children, Fanny and Dick, left today for Rome -City for a two weeks’ outing. 1 Henry Thomas and daughter. Miss Portia, were at Portland today, while the former was'attending to business matters. Dr. and Mrs. Sowers and daughter, Mrs. G. A. Sparr, of Grafton, ill., left this afternoon for Bryant to spend Sunday with relatives. Miss Edna Crawford will arrive | home this evening from Cleveland, Ohio, where she has been visiting with her aunt for a week or so. • Mrs. John Logan was at Ridgeville today, where she met Mr. Logan, who has been working there for several days, both returning home this evening. Lee Custer, who had been working at Fort Wayne for some time, was in the city today on his way to Pleasant Mills, where he will in the future reside. The Misses Adeline and Maymo Deininger and Rose and Bertha Voglewede will leave tomorrow for Rome City, where they will spend the summer vacation. Mrs. Nettie Fry returned this morning to her home at Indianapolis after a visit here with her daughter. Mrs. A1 Fritzinger, and other relatives. She was accompanied by her aunt. Mrs. Jonas Cline, who will spend several weeks with her. Rumors have reached the city that the employees of the Clover Leaf are to receive an advance in wages of ten per cent, but as yet has not been confirmed by officials of the company. Employees in Decatur are wishing like that would occur. Mrs. Nellie Fry .of Indianapolis, who has been visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Mell Rice, left this morning for her home. She was accompanied by Mrs. Jonas Klein, who will make a visit there and then proceed to St. Louis, where she will be a guest of friends for a few days.
