J. D. Hale went to Rome City to join his wife in a visit over Sunday. A very fine baby girl was born Sunday morning to Mr. and Mrs. Dan Welkio. Gilbert Strickler and son, Clarence, left today for Willshire, where the former has secured work. Mrs. Frences McCatnpbell returned on the 1 o’clock car to her home north of the city after shopping here. Joe Lose, who has been the guest of Edward Geise at Brookville, Ind., for a few weeks, has returned to the city. Mrs. Fred Vaughn returned this afternoon from Angola, where she has been visiting with Mr. Vaughn's father and family. Miss Martha Kettler was here today giving instruction to her music pupils, returning to her home at Fort Wayne this evening. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Entsminger and daughter, Thedma, of Warren. Ohio, who have been visiting relatives here, went to Fort Wayne this afternoon. A number of sisters arrived this afternoon from various surrounding cities to attend the sisters’ retreat, beginning here in the Catholic church today. Johnny Deßolt will be discharged the 15th of this month from the regular army. He has served three years and his many friends will welcome him home to old Decatur. Mrs. Will Doehrman and daughters, DeVona and Mildred, who have been visiting here with relatives, left this afternoon for Fort Wayne, to which place they are moving from Lima, Ohio. Mr. Doehrman, who is a detective for the Pennsylvania railroad, has been transferred to the latter place. —o — NOTICE TO WATER SONSUWIERS. Miles Pillars of Jonesboro, Ark., is here on a visit with relatives. Master Harold Niblick is spending tie week in Union township the guest of Carl Steigmeyer. Bud Brokaw left today for Fort Wayne after spending Sunday in the city with his family. Burt Pickett of the automobile factory made a business trip to Fort Wayno this morning. G. W. Huffman will visit with relatives in several places in Ohio, leaving on his trip today. Henry Hite spent yesterday at New Haven calling on his brother, George, who has bjen quite sick. John Stoneburner was a business caller at Geneva today, returning home on the evening train. J. S. Peterson spent Sunday at Rome City, joining his family, who are enjoying an outing there. Mrs. Glen Glancey of Monroe was shopping here Saturday and visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James D. Stultz.
Miss Margaret Moran has returned to the city after a week's visit at the country home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Steigmeyer. Elisha and T. J. Everhart, who have been the guests of their sister, Mrs. James Hughes, at Bluffton, have returned home. Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Salisbury were at Kendallville Sunday, where they attended a family reunion which was held there. Otto Bogner returned to his work at Fort Wayne after spending Sunday here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Bogner. Raymond Bremerkamp, who was at Portland since Saturday looking after some business interests, returned to the city today. Miss Ethel Barkley returned Sunday evening from Fort W’ayne. where she had been visiting for a day or two with relatives. James Ball, who is working at Nappanee, returned to that place this morning after spending Sunday in the city with his family. Mrs. Frank Brown and Mrs. George Bauserman went to Fort Wayne Saturday afternoon to visit with their sister and daughter, Mrs. Jay Elzey. Fred Hoffman, who is doing some contracting work at Newcastle, returned to that place this morning after an over-Sunday visit w’ith his family. Rev. and Mrs. O. V. L.Harbour of Geneva transferred here this morning on their way to Laketon, where they will visit with Mrs. Harbour’s parents. Mrs. Ada Volrner and daughter, Miss Anna, and sons, Ben and Al, left yesterday for Toledo, where they will spend several weeks enjoying their vacation. O. V. Graham of Monroe, who for several months past has been employed at the Buick auto works at Flint, Mich., returned to his home Saturday evening. Mrs. Margaret Keibers and daughter, Mrs. C. S. Clark and children, Barnard and Jeanette, left today for Rome City to spend several weeks in an outing. Miss Agnes Voglewede is clerking at the J. H. Vogelwede & Son’s shoe store during the absence of Clem Voglewede, who with his family, is spending his vacation at Rome City. George W. Ruckman left this morning for northeastern Ohio, where he will visit with his brothers and mother in the vicinity of Mansfield and look over the land conditions there with a view of investing. Sister Dcioris of Muncie, formerly Miss None Holthouse of this city arrived in the city today to make the annual retreat, which was begun in this city today. She was accompanied by a number of other sisters, who will also make the retreat. Conductor D. H. Hunsicker of the interurban, who has been confined to his home the past week from an injury to his foot, the tendons of which were torn in a fall from the car to the street pavement, was able to be at the interurban office today to assist during the absence of O. P. Schug, clerk, who is taking his vacation. Mrs. Grace Conner of York, Pa., her niece, Miss Ethel Bergman, who visited at Decatur, with the former’s sister, Mrs. E. N. Vancil. and family, were in Portland Saturday afternoon on their way to Fort Recovery, Ohio, where they ard guests at the home of Mrs. Conners parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nichols Money.—Portland Sun.

Leo Yager returned to Toledo after being in the city over Sunday as the guest of his sister and brothers. Miss Marie Heckman and Mrs. Eugene Runyon were Saturday afternoon clerks at the True & Runyon store. Mrs. Charles Kintz and children returned this morning to Fort Wayne after a visit with relatives at Preble. Burton Niblick and wife will arrive this evening from Quincy, 111., for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. John Niblick. Floyd Smith returned to his work at Fort Wayne this morning after spending Sunday in the city with his family. Mrs. Benedict Uhl, who has been the guest of her sister, Mrs. J. H. Voglewede, left today for her home at Toledo. Dr. D. D. Clark, who has been suf sering from symptoms of appendicitis for several days, was able to be down town today. Milo and Wallace McKinney of Milwaukee will arrive Friday for a visit with their parents. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. McKinney. Miss Mabelle Richard returned to her home at Kendallville Sunday after making a week's visit with friends and relatives in this city. The Misses Eula McKinney and Inez Coverdale were hospitably entertained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elijah Walters, east of the city. Sunday. A. D. Suttles and family will arrive this evening from Butler, Pa., and Conneaut, Ohio, where they have spent their vacation, visiting with relatives. Since the resignation sometime ago of Miss Mayme Conter as chief operator. Miss Gusta Cramer has been appointed to that position, with Miss Margaret Daniels assistant.
The sermon Sunday at the late mass at St. Mary’s church was delivered by Rev. Father Seifcur of Cincinnati. Father Seifcur is an able speaker and his discourse was rendered in a very masterly way.
The men’s class of the Christian Sunuay school, recently organized by the pastor, Rev. J. M. Dawson, is progressing nicely. One new member was added yesterday and the lessons are proving of much interest and benefit. William Angell of Detroit, Mich., was trying to bum his way through to St, Louis, and got as far as Van Wert, Ohio, when he found that it was not as nice to travel in this way as he had anticipated, and made up his mind to return to his home. Father George Angermeier, who was transferred from the position as assistant pastor of the Catholic church at Kokomo to the pastorate of the church at Auburn, writes that he likes his new appointment very much. Father George, until a few months ago was assistant to Father Wilken of this city. Mrs. C. W. Snodgrass and son, Chalmer, arrived Saturday afternoon from Phoenix, Arizona, for an extended visit with her sisters, Mrs. S. P. Sheets, Mrs. Emery Ma.ionee and her brother Charles Rinehart, and other relatives. Mrs. Snodgrass has made her home at Phoenix for the past six years, but was here on a visit two years ago. She will remain about two months. Mrs. H. S. Porter left today for Lebanon, where she will be the guest of her son, Allen, and wife. She will then go to St. James, Minn., to visit with her daughter, Hattie Shanks, and from there will go to Chanute, Kans., where the Porters will make their home. Clarence Porter has opened an Ice cream manufactury there and is enjoying a good business. Miss Edith Porter went some time ago to serve as bookkeeper and the remaining members of the family will join them there in about two months. Miss Bertha Heller, who has been enjoying a most delightful trip through the east for a month past, has written her parents that she will arrive home Wednesday of this week. During the four weeks she has visited Niagara Falls, made a trip to Canada, spent several days at Buffalo, a week at New York, witnessed the close of congress at Washington, visited West Point, made the trip down the Hudson, was shown through the navy yards and has taken in many other places of interest about New York and New Jersey,

The retreat for the sisters of the order of St. Agnes was begun in the city today and large numbers of sisters from nearby cities are in attendance. Bob Meibers, Marie Tonnellier and Miss Sylvia Droppieman of Jeffersonville left yesterday for Rome City, where they will spend a several weeks’ vacation. Ed Magley of the Page Blackburn drug store, left on the early morning train for Indianapolis, where he will take the bi-monthly examination of the state board of pharmacy.
