Miss Bertha Butler went to Fort Wayne yesterday afternoon for a visit with relatives. Miss Genevieve Coffee of Fort Wayne has arrived in the city and will make a few days’ visit here with friends. Mesdames John Elzey and Frank Bogner spent yesterday afternoon at Maple Grove park. Professor Withauss of Berne was in the city today, giving instructions to bis music pupils here. The Misses Vera Goeke and Margaret Miller of Fort Wayne are visiting with Miss Ethel Ehinger. Mrs. I. Imler has returned from Logansport where she visited with her son, H. E. Imler, and wife. Dr. Boyers is building an addition to his office rooms at his home, corner Third and Monroe strets. Mr. and Mrs. Allie Cookson and children of Steele visited with his mother, Mrs. R. A. Davis. Fred Miller acted as clerk at the Blackburn drug store in the absence of Ed Magley, who spent the day fishing. A. N. Bowen left today for Bryant, where he was called to settle some business affairs which required his attention. Mrs. D. W. Harpster and children left this morning for Bellview, Mich., where they intend to make their future home. Mrs. J. Wineman of Willshire, Ohio, passed through the city yesterday afternoon on her way to Fort Wayne for a visit. A marriage license was issued Monday evening to Harry Fritzinger, 27 bookkeeper. Jesse Niblick has recovered suf ficiently from a recent bilious attack to be at his work at the Old Adams County bank today. Fred Fullenkamp and John Lose are visiting at Brookville with Ed Geis. Fullenkamp will return this evening, but Lose will remain a week or two. Mrs. French Quinn and son, Robert, returned yesterday from Hillsdale, Mich., where they have been visiting with her sister, Mrs. Fred Bell. Rev. Kruse of Spencerville, Ohio, who was in attendance at the jubilee celebration of the German Reformed church on last Sunday, has returned to his home. A number of young people will go to Bluffton this evening, where they will be m attendance at the convention of the Phi Deltas, which is being held there this week Mrs. John Niblick, president of the Fort Wayne district Woman’s Home Missionary society, was in attendance at the convention held at Portland Tuesday, closing today noon. The Star base ball team left this noon for Ohio City, where they met a fast team at that place. The game was called at 2:30, but no reports had been received here at the time of going to press. Union township farmers were in town today in great numbers conferring with Surveyor C. C. Ernst in the matter of the apportionments of the cleaning of the Wagner ditch in Union township. Charles Loshe and Ignatius Rauh of St. Anthony. Ohio, who have been visiting relatives here, have returned to their home. They were accompanied by John Loshe, Jr., who will spend the summer there. Della Sellemeyer and Rose Eagen and Fanny Rice have gone to Defiance, Ohio, where they will make a visit with Mrs. Rev. N. E. Vitz. Mrs. Vitz was formerly Miss Emma Sellemeyer of this city. Mr." Striker of Berne transferred here yesterday afternoon on his way home from Fort Wayne, where he visited with his sister, Mrs. Philip Schug, at the Lutheran hospital. He reported that she was still very low. Mr and >Mrs. Holsapple arrived yesterday from Lafontafn>. and ' ill make this place their home, having leased the Hurst property on West Monroe street. Mr. Holsapple is connected with the Lafontaine Handle company. Mesdames W. B. Price and son, Russell, B. H. Avery, W. H. Ayres, Martna Rhoades, F. G. Schinnerer and daughter, Martha, were among the number from Willshire, Ohio, who transferred here this morning on theii way to Fort Wayne.

Commissioner Martin Laughlin was in tho city looking after some important business matters during the day. True Fristoe was in the city yesterday from Fort Wayne. He returned in the evening to resume his work at the Majestic theater. Ishmael and Harold Macy went to Elkhart today to spend some time visiting with their grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Hocker. Jesse Martin, formerly one of the best known residents of the city, was in town today calling on old friends and attending to business. Mrs. Sarah Eddington and daughter, Stella, left this noon for Pleasant Mills, where they will be the guests of friends for a day or so. Bill posters for the Barnum & Bailey show were in the city today post ing bills for that circus which will appear at Fort Wayne in the near future. Mrs. J. C. Sutton and sons, Harry and Murray, have returned from Ossian, where they visited over Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alex White. Rev. Charles E Ehle, pastor of the Baptist church here, returned last evening from Bronson, Mich., where he formerly lived. His duty there on Monday was the very happy one of performing a wedding ceremony for f prominent young couple of that city The names of Meyer & Scherer were very neatly painted on the windows of their furniture store this morning and the work was done by the painter who so neatly painted the Leah Medicine company’s sign and also the sign on the Hensley jewelry store. Miss Frances Bryson, North Pleasant street, left on the 10 o’clock car Tuesday morning for Marion to visit with her brother-in-law, Jerry Torrence, and family and to attend a bridge party given Friday by Mrs. Torrence at the Country club, —Portland Sun. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Nahrwold whose wedding occurred here Sunday, left today for Fort Wayne, where they w-ill make their home. Mr. Nahrwold having a home ready for his bride. Mrs. Nahrwold was Miss Lydia Bultemeier before her wedding. The groom is employed as mechanic in the Wabash shops.
