Charles Kleinknlght of Ossian who has been the guest of Walter Johnson for several days, has returned to his home. The interurban cars were all crowded today with picnickers from the St. Joseph schools enroute to Maple Grove park. Miss Mabie Steine returned to her home at Willshire after a pleasant visit in the city as the guest of Miss Marie Connell. Mr. and Mrs. B. Grant and daughter, Miss Maxine, of Lagrange, arrived in the city for a few days' visit with relatives. Mrs. J. N. Fristoe and niece. Miss Marie Mathewson, of Pleasant Mills left yesterday for Winona, to spend the summer. A. J. Smith left last night for Chicago, Milwaukee. Louisville and Orleans (Ind.), where he will attend to business matters. Mrs. B. A. Winans and family, who have been visiting with J. W. Shiffer]y and C. H. Miss Margaret Mills is expected home from Angola today, where she has been attending the Epworth l eague convention and visiting with her brother, Frank Mills, a student at the normal school. Rev. H. W. Vitz and daughter, Miss Della, returned yesterday morning to Indianapolis after attending the German Reformed celebration. Mrs. Vitz remained for a longer visit with her parents. Rev. and Mrs. Speiss. Mrs. Benedict Uhl and Miss Mary Uhl of Toledo, arrived in the city last evening for a visit with relatives. She was accompanied here toy her sister, Mrs. J. H. Voglewede, who has been making a visit at that place. Mrs. Philip Schug still continues very low at the Lutheran hospital. Doctors state that the next twentyfour hours will hold the crisis, and If she Ilves through twenty-four hours there may be chances for her recovery. Loss to the amount of S2OO was caused by a fire in the two-tsory residence of A. G. East at 6 East Third street Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock. The blaze originated from the explosion of a gasoline stove. An adjoining barn was also burned, the loss being estimated at s2s—Oklahoma City Times. Mrs. Henry Presdorf of Honduras attended the German Reformed cele bration Sunday and while there was the guest of Ell Meyer and family and Mrs. Julia Colchin. Miss Bernice Presdorf, who has been visiting at Woodburn with her brother, returned Sunday, and accompanied her mother to their home.
Mrs. Gertrude Gay of Mott, N. Dak., is in the city visiting with relatives. Jesse Niblick is off duty at the Old Adams County bank today, suffering from a bilious attack. M. E. Brackett left this mcrnlng for Ironton, Ohio, where he will attend to business matters. Harold Henneford, a student at Heidelberg college. Tiffin, Ohio, Is at home for his summer vacation. Charles Colter left last night for Fremont, Angola, Pleasant Lake and Quincy, Mich., on business. Miss Clara Peters of Fort Wayne visited with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Peters, over Sunday. Chris Strebe made a business trip to Lynn this morning, which required his attention during the day. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Andrews of Muncie, who were the guests of relatives in the city over Sunday, returned to their home. True Fristoe went to Fort Wayne this afternoon, where he has accepted a position as player at the Majestic theater at that place. Mrs. Lucy Rout, who since the first of the year has been at Fort Wayne, is here for a visit with her daughter, Mrs. F. M. Schfrmeyer. Abner Elzey of Ossian delivered a very fine address at the Root township Sunday school convention at Mt. Pleasant Sunday evening. Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson and children, Lorimer and Frances, have gone to Ossian, where they will make a few days' visit with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Smith and family of Fort Wayne visited over Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Philip Schieferstein and other relatives. Miss Clara Schultz of Fort Wayne has resigned her position as inspector at the electric light works and will coma to Decatur to make her home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schultz. Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Meibers have returned from Rome City, where they spent several days. C. L. reports the fishing as fine and brought back some very substantial evidence to back up the fish stories. He resumed work this morning as conductor on the interurban.

Miss Clara McQuisten of Fort Wayne was in the city over Sunday as the guest of Miss Anna Clark. Mr. and Mrs. Hl Warden and children of Wren, Ohio, transferred here enroute to Fort Wayne for a visit. J. B. Kiracofe and Miss Mary Fris Inger spent Sunday at the home of the former’s parents at Wren, Ohio. Ralph Case returned today to Indianapolis after a visit here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Case. George Steele and daughter, Jeanette, were at Unton City today, where the former was looking after business pertaining to his racket store. Philip Meihls and Jess Williams left yesterday for Winchester, where they have accepted positions in the Boltz Manufacturing company's plant. Mrs. Fred Hoffman and daughter, Hope, left today for Elkhart and Gary, where they will visit with her daughters, Mrs. Vanderlip and Mrs. Plew. William Morris was in Decatur Saturday to help conduct a sale at the five and ten cent store of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Baughman. The proprietors of the Decatur store formerly lived in this city and they have succeeded admirably in their Decatur store. Their sale Saturday was in celebration of the opening of a new store room and according to Decatur papers there was such a rush of people that one lady fainted and had to be taken home in a cab. The sale was conducted on the order of the sales which are put on regularly at the local store of Morris & Company.—Bluffton News.
