Harve Rice came home from Berne after spending Sunday there with friends, Mrs. Susannah Archer of Line street, who has been quite sick, is much improved. Mr. and Mrs. Josephus Fleming of Union township were business visitors here Saturday. Mrs. V. Schnepp went to Fort Wayne Saturday afternoon for a visit there with friends. Mrs. Ed Lewton and daughter, Esther, of Monmouth were shopping here Saturday afternoon. Tom Vail, who has been a student at Howe military academy, is at home for nls summer vacation. Ed Kleinhenz of Fort Wayne spent at Fort Wayne after spending Sunday in the city as the guest of his parents. Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Opliger, who were the guests of relatives at Linn Grove over Sunday, returned home this morning. Miss Louisa Zwlck of Williams, who has been making a few days’ visit with relatives In the city, left today for her home. S. J. Sutton returned to his home at Portland today after an over-Sun-day visit here' with Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Baughman and other relatives. Fred Hoffman returned to Newcastle this morning to resume his supervision of the new schoolhouse for which he has secured the contract. Robert Andrews of Monroe left today for his home at Monroe after a pleasant visit in the city with his grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Rainier. Mrs. Sarah Jackson and daughter, Gertrude, returned to Ossian Saturday afternoon after visiting with her sister, Mrs. Noah Loch, and shopping here. Mr and Mrs. C. G. West of Bluifton, Ohio, who have been visiting with her sister, Mrs. Henry Gentis. have gone to Fort Wayne, where they will visit. Mrs. A. R. Bell will leave about the middle of the week for Oden, Mich., where she will enjoy the hot season. Mr. Bell has been there for two weeks past. Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Bryson of Portland, who have been visiting here with friends, left this morning for Fort Wayne, where they spent the day with friends. Misses Rose Kleinhenz and Nellie Daniels were members of the extra cleri?al force at the Steele & Weaver racket store Saturday. Miss Bessie Jeffries returned Saturday afternoon from Fort Wayne, where she had been for the past several weeks with friends. Charles True and son, Brice, and C. J. and Will Lutz started this morning in the True automobile for a week’s stay at Koontz lake. John Brock, the well-known tinner and light hardware dealer, is arranging for a sale of aluminum goods that promises to clean up the stock. Hon C. J. Lutz of this city gave an excellent address at the Mt. Pleasant church last evening at the RootUnion joint Sunday school convention. Mrs. Charles Fueling and daughter, Amelia, left today for Dowagiac. Mich., where they will remain for several days owing to the Illness of the former’s mother, Mrs. Fuerst. Miss Angeline Kintz, who has been serving as milliner for the Mrs. Mary Wiser establishment at Westfield, N. Y„ is here to spend her vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Kintz. Frank and Raymond, returned this morning to Fort Wayne after a visit here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. Miller. She was accompanied by her sister, Miss Frances Miller, who will make a visit there. D. M. Hensley and family went to Rome City Sunday morning and will enjoy the moments from now until September Ist at that most pleasant resort. Mr. Hensley will return this evening and will only be a Rome City patron over Sundays. Ralph Eugene Wilder is the name of the very fine ten-pound baby boy that arrived Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Wilder of Root township. Motta r and babe are doing well and it is thought that the happy father will also recover.

James Ball left this morning for Nappanee, where he will be a business visitor tor several days. Charles Miller and Rill Lichtle left Saturday night for Fostoria, Ohio, where they spent Sunday with friends. Will Morris of Bluffton was here on business Saturday, having charge of the sales conducted by the Baughman store. Mrs. Stafford of Hoagland was shopping here this morning. Mrs. Stafford was formerly Miss Lillie Buskirk of this city. Miss Bernardine Heimman and brother, Alois, will be the guests of relatives at Van Wert, Ohio, for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Kilbourne of Fort Wayne spent Sunday here the guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. U. Deininger. Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Fuller of Chicago are here for a few weeks' rest and recuperation, stopping with J. H. Stone and family. Frank Bremerkamp, Otto Green and Free Frisinger will go to Bluffton tomorrow to attend the Phi Delta Kappa convention. Mrs. Peter Shaffer and children of Willshire arrived in the city for a few days' visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Johns. Henry Scherry was at Fort Wayne Saturday, where he was taking treatment for his eyes, which have bothered him for some time. Albert Scheumann clerked in the interurban office Saturday. He attends the Fort Wayne business university during the week. Bernard Voglewede, who has been at Fort Wayne for several days’ past, working for the Berling Produce company, has returned home. Fred B. Tague, who has been in the city for several days attending to some business interests, left this noon for Rockford on a similar mission. Miss Rose Christen is planning to spend the month of July at Hot Springs, Ark., where she will meet her sister, Mrs. F. E. France, of Muskogee, Okla. Walter Kauffman made a business trip to Willshire this morning and from there will go to several other places, and will be absent from the city the remainder of the week. Mesdames W. A. Kuebler, Mary Crawford. E. X. Ehinger and daughter, Edna, spent Sunday at Cincinnati, Ohio, with Carl Crawford and Lawrence Ehinger, who are studying for the priesthood. The Van Wilson shows which gave an exhibition here Saturday afternoon and evening, was a creditable aggregation and it was a matter of tough luck that they were prevented bringing the show here sooner ,as they would doubtless have done a good business. Every one who saw the show speak of it in praiseworthy terms. J. B. Merriman received a letter this morning from his law partner, Charles Dailey', reporting the safe arrival of him and his wife and son at Oden. Charley reported that he was having good luck with the rod and reel, but he did not quote any figures and evidently expects to land larger ones for the substance for his big fish stnties. —Bluffton News.
