Miss Goldie Friedline of Delphos, Ohio, is visiting with her aunt, Mrs. Oscar Lankenau. William Kortenbrayer left this morning for Fort Recovery for a few days’ business trip. Paul Harrod, who spent Sunday with his parents at Fort Wayne, returned home this morning. William Hlrschey of Berne passed through the city today on his way to Fort Wayne on business. Herman Gillig, who spent Sunday here with friends left today, for Monroe, where he is working. Caroline Dowling, who is attending school at Marion, came home to spend Sunday with her parents. Miss Mabel Harb went to Fort Wayne this morning to visit with her sister, Mrs. Ernest Steele. Mr. and Mrs. Josephus Fleming and daughter, Lucile, of Union township were shopping here Saturday. Tom Hiledbrant of Columbia City was the guest of friends in Decatur Sunday afternoon and evening. Howard Shackley returned home this morning from Monroe, where he was visiting with relatives over Sunday. Miss Florence Kunkel returned to her home at Monmouth on the 4 o’clock car Saturday after shopping here. Elmo Smith, who has been the guest of relatives at Fort Recovery, Ohio, for a week, returned home Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Burk left today for Indianapolis, wjiere they will spend a week or so visiting with friends. Mrs. W. R. Woods and Miss Viola Haggerty of east of the city made a business trip to Fort Wayne this morning. Dorse Hoagland left this morning for Arkansas, where he may spend the summer, combining business with pleasure. J. A. Hurley of Fort Wayne, agent for the Vermont Farm Machine company, was a business visitor here this morning. Chauncey Lautzenhiser of Berne was a business caller in the city today, and left for his home on the afternoon train. Many of the Epworth Leaguers of the city will attend the annual convention of the Fort Wayne district held Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at Angola. Noah Loch served as conductor on the interurban in place ol Homer Ruhl, who was off duty several days l on account of injuring his hand on the tro’iey hook. Hoyt Hartman and Clinton Fetters went to Decatur last evening to attend a lawn party. They made the trip in the Hartman automobile.— Bluffton Banner. Fred Hoffman, who is erecting a school house at Newcastle, left this morning for that place, where he will resume work after spending Sunday in the city with his family. Mr. and Mrs. William Beechler of Union City arrived in the city this morning to attend the funeral of Mrs. Lewis Fruchte, which was held this afternoon from the German Retormed church. Frank Kern of Fort Wayne, assistant superintendent of this district for the Metropolitan Insurance company, was here Saturday conferring with local agent, Albert Acker, and returned to Fort Wayne on the 4 o'clock car. Charles Van Camp and little daughter Dorothy, returned to their home at Kalamazoo, Mich., this morning, | after a short visit here for treatment, for the babe's eyes, which have been I affected since an attack of whooping ' cough.

The Misses Mary and Anna Sauer of Willshire, Ohio, transferred here this morning enroute to Fort Wayne. A. N. Peck of Muncie returned to that place this morning after spending Sunday in the city with friends. Mips Irene prlmme arrived this afternoon from Fort Wayne for a week’s visit with Miss Edna Ehinger. The Rev. J. M. Dawson of Indianapolis preached very good sermons at the Christian church yesterday morning and evening. The wedding of Miss Elizabeth Hain and Mr. Frank Gearl will take place Tuesday morning at G:3O o'clock from St. Mary’s church. Miss Clara Kelley returned Saturday afternoon to her home at Monroeville after visiting here with her sister, Mrs. Whitright. Master John Reause of Fort Wayne who has been visiting with friends in the city for several days, returned to his home this morning. John Bolinger and force of men left this morning for Newcastle, where they will commence the brick work on a school house at that place. C. Wert of Portland called on his sister-in-law, Miss Lydia Bollman and niece, Miss Laura Alban, this morn ing between trains while enroute to Fort Wayne. Raymond J. Hoffman, foreman in the general testing department of the Fort Wayne Electric Works, was an over-Sunday visitor with Russ Harruff. The later is also employed at that institution and is getting along nicely. D. M. Hensley went to Rome City | this morning, where he will prepare his summer home at Sylvan lake for the occupancy of his family during the next two months. They will go to that place the last of the week or the first of next. Large numbers were in attendance at the picnic Sunday given by the St. Peter’s Lutheran church north of the city. Several extra interurban cars went to the place and the grounds throughout the day were the scene of much pleasure. Mrs. Frank Allwein and daughter, Mary Catherine, returned to ther home at Shelby. Ohio. Saturday afternoon after a visit here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Peterson. They yvere accompanied by Miss Eliz abeth Peterson, who will spend the summer there. Rev. Dawson of Indianapolis, who had charge of the services at the Christian church Sunday, left today for his home. On next Sunday he will deliver his first sermon as permanent pastor here and the members ot the congregation are doing all possible to make the day a memorable one.

Miss Celia Gillig left today for Pittsburg, where she will visit with friends at that place and various cities in the east. She will be gone about six weeks. She was accompanied as far as Fort Wayne by her sister. Miss Emma Gillig. Word reached the city today of the perhaps critcial illness with pneumonia of Devona Doehrman, the six years’ old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Doehrman. former residents of this city. C. C. Ernst left for Lima and it is the hope of many that the illness may not prove as serious as at first reported.
