Mr. and Mrs. James Fristoe left for Winona, where they will spend some time at this famous resort Floyd and Russell Acker left Saturday for Van Wert, Ohio, where they were attending to some business. Walter Kauffman left on his weekly trip south this morning in the interest of the Schafer Hardware company. Fred Hoffman left today for New Castle, where he will attend to some business matters for several days. Miss Cora Roop returned to Fort Wayne after spending several days with her parents at Willshire, Ohio. Ed Kleinhenz of Fort Wayne was in the city Sunday visiting with his parents, returning to his work Sunday evening. Miss Della and Russell Harruff and Miss Nellie Winnes and her niece, Gretchen Miller, of Muncie, came home today from Salamonia, where they were the guests of Miss Winnes' sister, Mrs. L. E. Beard.

James Watkins of Pleasant Mills was in the city attending to some business matters Saturday. Chalmer Niblick last Saturday afternoon for Ossian. He was accompanied as far as Fort Wayne by Miss Ida Niblick. Mrs. Clara Griebel and daughter, Bessie, Os Willshire, Ohio, transferred here on their way to their home at Fort Wayne. Mrs. Albert Katterheinrich left Saturday for St. Marys, Ohio, where she will make a few days’ visit with relatives. Ray Cross of Landisville was in the city to attend the funeral of his brother-in-law, Joseph Daniels, which was held Saturday. Eugene Steele, who is working in an automobile factory at Auburn, spent Sunday here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. V. Steele. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Feeley and children of Fort Wayrie visited here over Sunday with their aunts, Mesdames James Bain and Adolph Hoffman. Albert Scheumann. who has been attending the Fort Wayne business college during the week, clerked at the traction office Saturday and Sunday. The frame work on the Martin Miller home being erected on Fifth street is assuming large proportions that show very much the plan of the house. Herman Gillig returned to his work at Monroe today after spending Sunday here with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Gillig, south of the city. Mr. and Mrs. George McWhirter of Peterson went to Fort Wayne Saturday afternoon to visit with their daughter, Mrs. E. H. Lane, over Sunday. Miss Eva Acker accompanied little Dick Durkens and Winfield Maddy to the woods in search of violets Saturday afternoon, leaving on the 1 o’clock car. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Slater, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dick and Mrs. Elmer Deetr of Auburn spent Sunday here the guests of Wesley Hovarter and family. Albert Sellemeyer returned home Saturday from Warren, where he attended the junior reception, which was given at that place on Friday evening. Mr. and Mr-. Otto Hildebrand of Magley passed through the city Saturday afternoon o ntheir way to Fort Wayne to visit with relatives over Sunday. Artford Hoghe and Mrs. Stump and daughter of Van Wert, Ohio, and Miss Letta Wetter of this city were guests of W. H. Stults and family at <5 o'clock supper Saturday. On Wednesday morning at SL Marys church will occur the wedding of Miss Margaret Eiting to Mr. Fred Geimer, both popular young people of this place. Mrs. Charles Colter returned Saturday from Marlon, where she attended the M. E. Woman's Home Missionary convention and incidentally visited with Mrs. Margaret Huber. Miss Velma Porter, who, with her aunt, Mrs. Ella Redding, has been in Springfield. Mo., for some time, writes that they are enjoying their visit and have no time set for their return. They will probably visit in Dakota and Oklahoma before returning. The special sale at the Steele & Weaver racket store was a hummer Saturday and the rush and crowd was something bordering on “the awful." Five hundred pieces of 25 and 30c graniteware pans, kettles, etc., were disposed of in about fifteen minutes, the special sale price, as advertised, being ten cents.

Floyd Smith of Fort Wayne returned to hfs work Sunday evening after spending Sunday here with his liyMrs. D. M. Hower and sister, Miss Leona Stalter, went to Fort Wayne today to attend the funeral of a relative. Tom Haefling of Flint, Mich., who has been in the city for several days, will leave Tuesday morning for his home. Mr. and Mrs. William Ake and Miss Emma Ake of Poe have returned to their home after a pleasant visit tn the city as the guests of John Wagner. Louis Schroeder returned this morning to his home in Root township after making his report to the auditor on a road on which he esrevd ase viewer. Ernest Steele returned to Auljurn after attending the funeral of his brother-in-law, Durbin Harb. Mrs. Steele and children will remain for a longer visit. Eli Sprunger, who has been in ill health for some time, suffering from a complication of stomach and kidney trouble, left this morning for Martinsville, where he will spend ten days or longer at the sanitarium. Miss Fay Smith of Decatur, well known in this city among the young people, arrived home in Decatur today after completing a three years' course in the Emerson College of on a road on which he served as News. W. H. Eichhorn received a letter this moring from Geo. L. Saunders, formerly publisher of the Banner, in which he stated that the was getting along fine in Oklahoma City and in which he gave his best to his old friends here. —Bluffton Banner. Mrs. Minnie Sickafus of Laketon, who has been making a week’s visit with her sister, Mrs. Blanche Hoffman, at Preble, is here for a visit with her parents, Mr. anil Mrs. A. J. Reynolds. Mrs. Hoffman accompanied her here. The republican (central committee in session this afternoon set Saturday, August 20th. as the Sate for the election of the county ticket. A delegate convention wiH be held. Most of the committeemen were present. It was also decided to select one delegate for every fifteen republican votes cast for the highest republican elector at the last election. These delegates are to be selected on Friday evening, July 15th_—Bluffton News.

Eugene. Tittle son of Mr. and Mrs Guy Johnson, has been quite sick since Saturday with what threatens to be pneumonia. It is thought that it has been checked, however, and nothing serious in anticipated.
