Carl Smith was spending the day with friends at Geneva. Professor Withaus of Berne was a business caller in the city Friday. Roy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Goldner, of Preble is recovering from the measles. Attorney Dore Erwin made a business trip to Fort Wayne yesterday afternoon. Miss Fanny Frisinger, a student at Indiana university, arrived today to spend Easter at her home here. Mrs. Florence DeVilbiss spent Friday afternoon with Mrs. C. D. Kunkel at Monmouth. Mrs. S. G. Taylor of Willshire went to Fort Wayne to see her daughter, Mrs’ H. N. Roe, who is quite sick. C. D. Lewton returned over the Clover Leaf yesterday after being absent from the city over a week. Dr. H. E. Fledderjohann and family of New Knoxville, Ohio, made a flying visit here yesterday with relatives. Mrs. E. B. Adams was among those from Decatur who enjoyed the comic opera, “The Love Cure,” at the Majestic theater at Fort Wayne Friday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Lyons spent yesterday afternoon in Fort Wayne. Charles Patto nmade a business trip to Fort Wayne last evening, leaving on the 5:30 car. Miss Paula Rodenbeck returned to her home on the 4 o'clock car after shopping here yesterday. Omer Butler came home from Berne and will spend Easter in the city with his family. John Glancey has returned from Hoagland, wliere he had been doing some work. P. G. Williams went to Geneva this morning, where he had charge of the Mosier studio during the day. Leo Kintz and Ervin Miller will spend Sunday in Fort Wayne the guests of friends. Burt Tucker of Berne is here for a visit with his uncle, L. H. Purdy, and family. Loyal Woods of the Schlickman & Girod bakery, made a pleasure trip to Fort Wayne Friday. A. J. Smith returned from Lafayette, Chicago, Milwaukee and Elkhart, where he transacted business. The funeral of Mrs. Alice Callow was held yesterday afternoon at Wren, Ohio, and many were in attendance from this city. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Sipe and chib dren left this morning for a visit over Easter with Mr. Sipe’s father, A. J. Sipe. Albert Scheumann of the Fort Wayne Business college is visiting here and clerking today and Sunday at the traction office. Special lenten services were conducted Friday morning at the German Reformed church by the pastor, the Rev. L. C. Hessert. Miss Eva Brokaw went to Fort Wayne Friday evening to visit with her father, L. B. Brokaw,,who is working there. Miss Flossie Bolinger is a member of the extra Saturday clerical force employed today at the Steele & Weaver racket store. The Hensley store is working overtime in putting away the large consignment of silverware that came in today to swell their already large stock. Services still continue every evening at the Baptist church, being conducted by Evangelist D. B«» Richard. The services will probably continue through the summer. B. F. Boosher left today for Brookville, Ohio, where he will make a few days’ visit with his brother, John Boocher, who is very sick with spinal Rouble. Mrs. John Priest and three children arrived this morning from Bill, Okla., for a stay with her mother, Mrs. D. P. Reynolds, who has been quite sick for some time and is no better. Mrs. Cramer and daughter, Gusta, have, moved from First street, where they lived many years, and are now comfortably located on South Mercer avenue. The Decatur library acknowledges with pleasure the addition of the Saturday evening Post to the reading tables, the same being the gift of Mr. and Mrs. John Heller. Mrs. Fred Patterson, who was called to Terre Haute by the serious Illness of her mother, Mrfe. King, writes that she is not so well. She is quite sick with rheumatism, with complications of heart trouble. Merchants are all happy over the big Easter trade during the past two weeks. Milt Fuhrman, who recently visited with his brother, Josie, at Plymouth, reports that he is getting along well. He has been employed there since last Thanksgiving as night operator for the Pennsylvania railroad at the tower near Plymouth. Mike Melbers, who has been working with the Standard Oil company near Chicago for some time, is at home for several days on account of sickness, being confined to his bed part of the time with a severe cold that has settled on his lungs. Easter is here and tomorrow the day will be appropriately observed at the various churches where suitable programs have been arranged as may be seen by a glance at the column wherein are given the programs. Put on your new bonnet if you have one and attend some of these services. It will do you good. Tho new sign at the Vance, Hite & Macklin clothing store is attracting considerable attention. Aside from it being a dandy sign, it bears below the imprint, “Bart France,” in bold letters. Now every one knowns that Bart couldn't paint a rail fence, and when he stands so high as would be necessary in » case of this kind he gets dizzy. Her name was omitted by mistake from the list mentioned in the Easter program. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Kellam of Huntington arrived this afternoon for a visit over Easter with Mrs. Kellam's brother, John Stewart, and family of Marshall street. Mr. Stewart’s father, W. H. Stewqrt, and wife, of Huntington and another sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Killen, of Majenica are also expected tomorrow. Romaine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Henneford, who has beenquite sick for some time, is much better and is able to get fresh pure air in rides in her cab. It is thought the coming of the spring and plenty of pure, fresh outdoor air will effect a speedy cure.
