Mrs. Henry Heuer and daughter, Vrederica, of Root township were shopping here yesterday and visiting with relatives. Miss Martha Fonner has gone to Huntertown for a several days’ visit with her aunt, Mrs. Catherine Kell, and other relatives. Attorney Jake Butcher of Geneva was a business caller in our city this morning and left for his home on the noon train. H. F. Callow went to Willshire this morning, owing to the illness of his mother, who has been sick for a number of months. Mrs. Cora Martz, who has been visiting in the city for a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Draytcn Hill, left today for her home at Monroe. Henry Koenemann was at Williams today looking after the hog market. Sim Burk and Dale Sparr went to Berne this morning, where they were looking after a little business. The grain dealers are quite busy at this season of the year handling the surplus corn, oats and clover seed, which the farmers are disposing of at „ this time of the year. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Throp have been called to Ridgeville by the death of her father, Mr. Van Horn. Mr. VanHorn became known to many here during his visits with his daughter. The wall paper at the Fullenkamp store is undergoing a course of cleaning that will make the place look like new and will be a handsome background for the display of spring goods which are coming now in full glory. Mrs. C. M. Hower and Miss Ruth Ernst are spending the day in Fort Wayne, calling on Mrs. Rinehart at the Lutheran hospital. Mrs. Rinehart has recovered to such an extent that it is thought that she will be able to come home Saturday. a The senior class of the Decatur high school is just now interested in the science of electricity, under the direction of Miss Nora Smith, teacher of • science. Reid has gone to Fort Wayne for a few days’ visit with her sister, Mrs. Nellie Boyles. D. E. Lauferty of Huntington was here this morning on business relating to the Waring Glove factory. Ben Knoppe made a business trip to Craigvllle this noon and will return home this evening. Adam Buetell was at Berne today looking after some business for a short while. Miss Agnes Costello will spend St. Patrick's day in Fort Wayne the guest of Miss Marie McMullen. Mrs. Peter Gaffer, who has been quite sick with nervous prostration, is better and is now able to be up and around the house. John Woy went to Monmouth this afternoon, where he will look after business relating to his farm near that place. Uncle Dan Donovan wil go to Fort Wayne tomorrow to join with the Hibernians of that city in their annual St. Patrick’s day celebration. Mrs. Eugene Runyon went to Berne this afternoon, where she attended to business relating to their residence property at that place. John Loshe, who for several days has been visiting with relatives in Ohio, returned to his home east of the city. Abe Bock was at Berne today looking after some business pertaining to the horse sale which will be held here on Friday of this week. Mrs. Samuel Helm went to Fore Wayne yesterday afternoon to see her sister, Mrs. Rosa Lincoln, who is lying at the point of death. Jacob Spade of near Peterson, who has been sick for some time from a complication of diseases, is no better and it is thought that he cannot recover. A carload of fifteen horses for the Decatur Horse Sale company were received from Kendallville over the Fort Wayne & Springfield interurban yesterday afternoon at 4 o’clock. Miss Grace Burley of Geneva, who has been taking care of her sister, Mrs. Clyde Bolenbaw, at Fort Wayne, who has been sick for some time, was in Decatur today on business and returned to Fort Wayne this morning. A. D. Savage, the contractor, who has the construction of the B. G. & C. to Geneva in charge, has been offered a contract for 300 miles of track near San Antonio. He also has the offer of about twenty-four miles near at home but has not made a decision. —Bluffton News. Mrs. Samuel Helm and daughter-in-law, Mrs. Dan Helm, left this morning for Fort Wayne, where they were called by the serious sickness of the. former’s sister, Mrs. Rosa Lincoln, who is lying at the point of death from tuberculosis. Yesterday at various times It was thought she was dying. Mrs. Lincoln is known to many here, being also a sister of J. A. Smith and mother of Mrs. B. Frank Cramer. Announcement was made today by the department store of Evans, Winters & Co., that the store would be closed and the firm dissolved after a closing out sale, which will last for 'about ninety days.
