Martin Mylott made a business trip to Chicago yesterday, remaining but a short while. - Miss Ella Reiter returned to her home north of city on the 10 o’clock car this morning after shopping in the city. Charles Hogobam returned to Fort Wayne this morning after attending to business here for the Fort Wayne News. Along with the balmy air, comes the report of a song of the red bird, all of which suggests the approach of the spring. Raymond Bremerkamp came home today from the south part of the county, where he has been working for .the past w’eek or so. Fred B. Tague left this morning for different part% of Michigan, where he expects to look over the country and see how things suit him. Charles Meyers has returned home from Chicago, where for several days he has been purchasing spring stock for the firm of Moses & Meyers. Clarence Porter left today noon for Lebanon, where he will spend Sunday with his brother. Allen Porter, and wife, and from theser will go to Sedalia, Mo., on business. Murray Scheerer, who has been a student at the chemical college at Chicago, was in the city yesterday morning and left again in the evening for that place. Mrs. Walter Johnson, who has been on the sick list for several weeks at the home of Mr. Johnson parents at Tocsin, was reported today as being somewhat improved. , Among those from a distance who attended the funeral of Abraham Stalter were Mrs. Mary Allen of Markle: Chris Stalter and Mises Armeda Stalter and Frank Stalter of Lima, Ohio; Grant Russell and family of Ossian. Jack Edmunds departed today for Indianapolis, where he wil attend the state meeting of the retail merchants. It is also 'Whispered that Jack will look after some politcial matters while in the city. Jack does not believe in losing his hold in politics and as the time of love feasts and get together meetings in the republican party are at hand Jack is getting in on the star chamber sessions.—Bluffton News.

Dan Beery transacted business at Berne yesterday, returning home on the evening train. Miss Anna Ehrman of Peterson passed through the city on her way to Fort Wayne for a visit. G. M. Syphers of Fort Wayne was here attending to business matters and visiting old friends. James Rice was at Venedocia yesterday, where he attended to business for the ecatur Horse Sale Co. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Dull of Willshire, Oh id, transferred here on their way to Fort Wayne for a visit. Cora Manley, who has been visiting relatives for the past week at Van Wert, Ohio, has returned home. Mrs. Albert Graber and children went to Fort Wayne for a visit with her sister, Mrs. Wilson Mille.

Miss Martha Fonner of Monmouth was shopping here yesterday and calling on Mrs. Fred Bohnke of North Second street. Ed Vancil left this morning on the train south, where he was attending to his business at different places along the line. Mrs. William Brandyberry of Monroe, whb has been visiting with friends at Bourbon, Ind., returned to her home this morning. Mrs. M. V. B. Archbold returned yesterday afternon to Fort Wayne after spending the day vzith her parents, Mr .and Mrs. J. L. Edge. Ike Nelson, Joseph Gase and a number of other workers of the P. W. Smith saw mill, left today for Berne where they will operate the mills at that place. Sirs. Mary Sutliff, who has been at Monroe for several days past, arrived in the city for a short stay, and this morning left so her home east of Geneva. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Gardner left for Fort Wayne and from there will go to their home in San Jose, Cal. They were visiting here for two weeks with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. U. G. Russell and children returned to their home at Ossian after attending the funeral of her father, Abraham Stalter, r|nd visiting a few days wltn relatives. William Schultz, a well known farmer of near Ossian, is making preparations to hold a sale of all his property Friday and will probably go to California to make his home. His brother, Henry Schultz, of this city will attend the sale Friday. \ Col. L. C. Davenport went to Indianapolis this morning, where he will attend a meeting of the stockholders of the Federal Union Surety company. County Auditor Garrett today received $12,112.50 from the state auditor as Wells county’s apportionment from the state schol fund. Miss Cornell of Chicago, who was a guest at the Murray hotel over night, left for Fort Wayne. Miss Tena Radamacker went to Fort Wayne to spend the day the guest of Miss Rose Brunner. Professor Whfthaus of Berne came down this morning and was engaged in giving his musical instructions during the day. When W. A. Lipkey relinquished the office as sheriff he found that he had forgotten the combination for the safe in the jail. He sent to the offices of the Hall company for the combination and today after his return from Missouri was busy trying to get the safe opened.—Bluffton Banner. Forrest Allen went to Chicago Tuesday and is investigatihg there with a view to accepting a position that will see his return to the railroad business. Forrest formerly worked soy the C. B. & C. and has taken a liking to railroading with the result that he will get back into that line of business. —Bluffton News. Barney Kalver Is arranging to move the yards of the Bluffton Iron & Metal 1 company Into the company’s new quarters along the Clover Leaf tracks on West Market street the first of next week. Charles Ervin, the Clover Leal car inspector, returned to his work this morning after several days’ absence caused by a heavy piece of Iron falling on his foot. He has nearly recovered from the injury. Mr. Erwin makes his home in Decatur, making trips over the local yards each morning.
