DIED IN THE TOUGH DISTRICT. Young Chicago Millionaire Gives Life as R e sult of Hilarious Living. (United Press Service.) Chicago, 111., Jan. 10. —(Special to Dally Democrat) —The police and coroneer are today investigating the death of Nathaniel Moore, 26, and son of James Moore, the capitalist, and part owner of the Rock Island and Pacific railroads, who was found dead in bed in a house in the TwentySecond street levy district. Heart trouble is believed to have been the cause. Every effort is being made to suppress the details of the young millionaire’s death, and so far as it can be learned it followed a supper at which Moore spent money like water. o - ■ PINCHOT AS PRIVATE CITIZEN. (United Press Service.) Washington, 1). C., Jan. 10. — (Special to Daily Democrat) —As a private citizen, Gifford Pinchot, ex-forester of the United States, spent today at his home, mapping out plans to vindicate his position In his controversy with President Taft. For the past two days he has at odd moments been framing a statement to the public. The administration supporters are waiting for the statement with no little concern, because it is feared he will point out what Pinchot considers the dagger In the policies of the Taft administration, regarding the methods for caring for the natural resources. POISONED BY STEPDAUGHTER. (United Press Service.) Terre Haute, Ind., Jan. 10.—(Special to Daily Democrat) —As a result of poison, which, according to a letter left by him for the police, was administered to him by his step-daughter, Effie Salisbury, while in a Chicago hotel, in order to cover up an alleged theft of jewelry, William Helnan, 25, a prominent jeweler of this place, died at a hotel here today. According to the Tetter the woman is en route to New Orleans and the authorities there have been asked to arrest her. Relatives and friends of John O'Donnell, a well known farmer of near Geneva, are much worried over his cotinued absence since Thursday’, and are sending word to this and surrounding cities asking for information regarding him. O’Donnell went to Ge--1 neva Thursday afternoon to sell some hay, receiving therefor some ninetyeight dollars. He then went north and on Friday returned to Geneva with a stranger. Both disappeared and have not been seen nor heard of since. His relatives are much worried an dthink that he may have been foully dealt with.
