Indiana, will receive proposals for the construction of a sidewalk along the following property abutting on Mercer avenue ir the City of Decatur, Indiana: Commencing at the southeast corner of the property owned by Mrs Marsh Burdg, thence east along said avenue to High street in said city. Said improvement to be constructed according to the plans and specifications now on file at the office of the clerk of said city on the Seventh day of December, 1909, Sealed bids will be received up to seven o’clock p. m. Each bidder must file with the clerk of said city a certified check in the sum of twentyfive dollars, as a guarantee that they will accept said bid and carry out the construction of said work. •A BIG DITCH JOB 1 Butler, Son & Peterson Begin a Five and a Half ’ Mile Ditch Job. I > J IS IN NOBLE COUNTY i Boys Will Live in a Shack— The Work Will Require I About Six Months. s Mr. and Mrs. Albert Butler have returned from Albion ,Ind.» where they 1 have been for a week, Mr. Dutler ; looking after a big contract which the firm has near there. The contract for a ditch five miles and a half long was secured some time ago by BuUer, Son & Peterson, and they are now starting the work which will require about six months’ time. Last week a large shack was erected along the route of the ditch where the boys will have their headquarters during the winter and where they will live in regular frontier style. Dallas Butler and Tom Peterson will be in charge of the job and will be assisted by about ten men who will do the work as rapidly as could be expected on such a contract. A ROOMING HOUSE Yager Brothers are Rebuilding the Indiana House —Will be Modern. THE WORK HAS BEGUN Building to be Enlarged and all Conveniences Will be Installed. The old Indiana House which has been a land mark in Decatur for a third of a century, is to be rebuilt into a mooern ana comfortable structure, suitable for a boarding and rooming house. The building was purchased recently by John and Herman Yager, the sale being necessary to close up the estate of Mrs. Mary Beglin, who conducted the hotel for so many years. This morning contractors Mann & Christen began the reconstruction of the building They are tearing away the south part of the building and will erect an addition aboutt he size As the old house, making it two stories «and giving double the room.heretofore in the house. A cellar will be constructed, a modern heating plant installed, plumbing and other conveniences added, and when completed it will be thoroughly modern boarding and rooming place.
