Mrs. Catherine Teeple is spending a few days with relatives at Weston. Ohio. Billy Kizer returned to Fort Wayne after attending the dance last evening. Chas. Kreigh, of Echo, Ind., was in town this morning and looked after some business before returning home. Mrs. P. K. Kinney went to Fort Wayne this morning for a visit with her sister, Mrs. T. M. Goldner, whose daughter is very sick. F. H. Callow and family went to Wren, Ohio, where they will make a visit with his mother, who has been quite ill for some time. Alexander Lidy, living north of Bluffton, has bought through the D. L. Reynolds real estate agency a farm of 80 acres lying in the edge of Allen county, for $5,000. MT. Lidy’s son will move onto the farm. —Bluffton News. Mrs. Jennie Furman of Marion, 0., is here for a short visit as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Ferd Mosiman. The deep waterway convention is attracting a number from this city as well as from all the other towns and cities in this locality. L. A. Graham and W. A. Lower were at Fort Wayne last evening attending to business and attending the waterway convention. Albert Earl, who has been at the Grand theater this week, left for Geneva this morning, where he will be for the rest of the week. The Misses Tena and Anna Radamacher left on the 8:30 car for Fort Wayne this morning, where they spent the day with fritends. Thurman Porter of Parker City, who has been visiting in the c’.t£ with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Porter for the past few days, returned to his home this morning. A large number oi delegates arrived this morning from the south, to take part in the Adams county Sunday school convention, which is being held at the Presbyterian church today. The weather continues beautiful, but according to the man who handies the weather bureau in Washington. a change is due within the next few hours, the prediction for this evening being rain and colder. Many sidewalk politicians are deep in study just now helping Frank Smith with his city cabinet. So far Mr. Smith has made no intimation of who he will appoint to the office of marshal or street commissioner. It will be necessary to appoint a marshal at once, as Freem Carlisle will take charge of the sheriff’s office January Ist.—Bluffton Banner. Prosecutions agaitast the people who owe dog taxes will be started within a few days. Only a few of the people in Harrison township who owe taxes on their canines have paid up since their names were turned over to Prosecutor Dailey. Those who have not paid will have to answer to a justice of the peace for their failure to come across with the money.—Bluffton Banner. Bills are now being filed with City Clerk Hotsenpiller covering the expense of the city election held on Tuesday of last week and estimates the total at approximately S2OO. This sum includes an expense of $37.20 for each of the four wards, including the judges, inspectors, clerks, meals and rent; $2.50 drayage for moving voting booths; $5.00 for the election commissioners; $2.50 meals; $?6.70 for notice of election, ballots and sample bal'ots; and sl3 to the Buirford Co. fo|r /posters and plies.—Portland Sun. Dr. and Mrs. Homer Sowers went to Fort Wayne yesterday afternoon and will remain several days. Mrs. Elizabeth Neptune returned to Willshire after a visit with her son, J. Q. Neptune and family. John Baker, who has been at Cincinnati for the past few days, returned home last evening. Mrs. Wm. Badders returned home this afternoon from Fort Wayne, after several days' visit with friends. Henry Voglewede who left for Lima, Ohio, to be at the bedside of Mrs. Catherine Touhey, returned home this morning And reported that she remains about the same. Mrs. John Buhler returned to her heme at Marion, after a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Fisher and her sister, Mrs. Jacob Eady and other relatives. The Old Southland Sextette will appear in this city the last of the month, under the auspices of the Woman's League. The sextette is composed of four negro men and two women. They are all great singers of negro melody and are artists in their line. The young people of Ae Christian Endeavor Society of the German Reformed church went to the home of Oscar Fritzinger near Monmouth last evening, where they were very pleasantly entertaihd with music and games. Refreshments were served after which the party returned on the last car. Jesse Buhler and family of Marton, who have been for some time In Mexico, where Mr. Buhler has been endeavoring to regain his health, has sent word to relatives that he is feeling well, and is almost entirely recovered. Mr. John Buhler of Marion. his mother, will visit the family at that place in a few weeks. Mrs. J. C. Coverdale has gone to Logansport for a visit with relatives. Dr. Coverdale, her husband is now in Marion, Arkansas, where he will remain for some time with his son C. C. Coverdale and family. Arrangements have been made by Dr. Earl Coverdale to take care of his father's business during his absence. • By request we will reproduce this evening, the famous film “Angela” at the Crystal theater. This is one of the most beautiful motion shows ever given in Decatur and we hope every man, woman and child will take advantage of this opportun'ty to see it. Besides this we have other good reels and we know you will be more than satisfied if you come this evening. The Bluffton, Geneva & Celina traction company has completed the switch to the quarry of the Bluffton Stone Company, south of the city, and is now in shape to haul out stone by the car loads, for use as ballast on the traction line and for sale to road contractors and others. The tracks run directly beneath the bins at the quarry so that the crushed stone can be dumped into the cars with great convenience. The company purchased cars for use expressly in hauling stone. —Bluffton News.
