Last evening the boys of a fraternity at Portland were entertained at cards and the event was one of the most pleasant. Mr. and Mrs. Barker are the parents of Mrs. Steele, and they will with the other guests, remain for several days. The company arrived on the noon train. A pleasant visit is promised for the guests during their stay in Decatur. * * * * The ladies of the Curistian church will give an ice cream social Saturday evening in front of the Stoneburner picture show, and the ladies request that a large crowd be present. * * The Ladies’ Aid Society of the Christian church will meet Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Noah Mangold. Portland, Ind., July 6.—Clarence beleff, a farmer of northeast of this city, is happy over the return of a pocketbook containing $5lB in negotiable notes, and $9.02 In currency, lost Saturday night, at Bryant. He was assisting in releasing a horse that had fastened itself in a fence. When he reached his home he discovered the loss and thought his pocket had been picked by a thief in a crowd.
