E. church Sunday evening, June 13. > Luther Boyers has returned from 'school at Northwestern University, and will spend his vacation with his parents, Dr. and Mrs. J. S. Boyers. Mrs. C. C. Enos went to Fort Wayne last evening to be at the bedside of her mother, who is in the hospital there, suffering from stomach trouble.. Frank Schultz, who has been sick 'for several days, is no better today, and is likely to suffer an attack of j quinsy before he is able to resume ' work. Mr. and Mrs. John Barone, of St. Marys tow’nship, went to Fort Wayne this morning, where the later will undergo an operation at the Lutheran hospital. Lyle Kendall, agqd 9, was swept over a dam while swimming in Eel river at Logansport and was frightfully injured in his fall upon the rocks below. He was dragged out by two companions, who plunged in and carried his senseless form from the river.

The Yeoman lodge will give an interesting program Monday evening, June 7, at Meibers hall. The public is invited to attend. Miss Ethel Barkley, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. A. E. Rose for several months at Jackson, Mich., will arrive home next Saturday. A most delightful band concert was given at Geneva Wednesday evening by the band of that place, and manypeople were on the streets to hear the excellent music. Miss Cora Hood, of Ossian, state grand mistress of records and correspondence of the Pythian Sisters, returned to her home at Ossian today byway of Fort Wayne. L. C. Chalk, district agent from Portland and C. L. Mann, supervising agent for the Singer Sewing Machine company, of Indianapolis, were here today as guests of the local agent, Mr. Puls. - Mrs. A. S. Elzey, of Ossian, returned to her home at that place after a visit with Mrs. Fre® Linn. She attended the Pythian Sisters and Knights of Pythias initiation and banquet last night. Police raided the “’soft drink” place of Jonathan Morris, at Elkhart, finding beer whisky and other liquors, and one or two patrons of the place helplessly drunk. The liquor was seized. W. H. FTedderjohann and J. H. Koenig left yesterday morning Tor St. Marys, Ohio, where they have important business matters to dispose of. The gentlemen drove to that cityin the King automobile. In her action for divorce at Warsaw, Mrs. Myrtle Ralston testified that saw her husband, Ray Ralston, but OQce before they were married. Abandonment was the charge, and Mrs. Ralston got her divorce. J. A. Morris and family have moved from the residence on Morgan street they have been occupying into the residence on south Main street Seymour Robinson vacated. Mr. Robinson moved to his property on west South street and Rollo Stites will occupy the house Morris vacated, Harrv Staver moving into the Stites residence. —Bluffton Banner.
Josiah Rupert, 60 years of age, residing in Jackson township, Huntington county, w’as instantly killed Wednesdav, while hauling baled hay to Roanoke. He had stopped his team to transfer a portion of the load to another wagon when the horses started suddenly, and in grasping for the reins Mr. Rupert fell from the wagon and a wheel passed over his head, breaking his neck ' The automobile troubles of William McNamara, of Pierceton, do not come singly. Last fall he left his stranded machine at the side of the highway. It caused a runaway and Elmer Banghart sued for $2,000 damages'. The jury gave him a judgment for $l5O, but McNamara appealed and the case is still pending. Now Mrs. Banghart, wife of the plaintiff in the former case, has filed smt demanding $2,000 damages from the Pierceton man. Archie Colter returned to his home at Willshire on the noon train after transacting business in the city. Mr. and Mrs. Russel Lee, of Elwood, aye in the city and attended the funeral of Mr. Lee's aunt, Mrs. Brokaw. All the members of the Y. P. S. C. E'. are requested to meet at the U. Knorr will leave this evening for Louisville, Ky., where she will visit with relatives for two or three weeks. The city will be livlier than usual at this time on account of the big Mystic Shrine meeting, which is to be held there. Misses Ada Murray and Marie Fought,, cf Decatur, wore in town over last Sunday the guests of Mrs. Zoe Briggs. Miss Fought accompanied Mrs. Briggs to Shelbyville Tuesdaymorning, where they will visit Mrs. Pelham and family a couple of weeks. —Geneva Herald. Dr. W. E. Smith, L. G. EUipgham, C. D. Murray, J. H. Yager and others from here were called to Huntington today to testify in the case against Frank Cotton, who is facing court for forgery. His police record here as well as at Bluffton and other places may play an important part in the case.
