Four Indiana congressmen were heard upon the floor of congress and all four of them riddled the Payne tariff bill and the whole system of protection fore and aft. The four speakers were Democrats, and it almost borders on the sensational to hear four Indiana Democrats all in one day. and to think, too, that they are real congressmen from the hoosier state. It is a safe bet that they will come nearer representing th? people that the echoes that have rattled around there for the last several years. Tn consideration of the inclement weather, there was a goodly number of farmers in the city today and consequently the merchants did a good business. The funeral services over the remains of the late Catherine Norris, will be held tomorrow morning at the Freidheim Reformed church, the cortege leaving the house at ten o'clock sun time. I. L. Babcock, who recently purchased a furnture store at Frankfort, is negotiating for the sale of same, and in the event that present plans materialize, he will build a new home in Decatur in the near future. o ECZEMA IS NOW CURABLE. Church to Close Tuesday THE MITE SOCIETY Masonic Lodge Will Confer the Third Degree Monday Miss Rowena Shoaf is entertaining the Busy Bee Club this afternoon. Vivian Burk will be an outside guest. Miss Glenys Mangold is entertaining the G. L. C. Club with games and music at her home on First street this afternoon. The contest which has bene so interesting to the members of the Y. P. C. U. of the United Brethren church will close Tuesday. Several social events have occurred during the contest. The members are all trying to help their side in collecting the most money. Next Tuesday evening the question will be decided at the. church. Rev. Imler will be in charge and will award prizes to the fortunate side. Howard Wisehaupt is captain ctf |the White Ribbon followng; Mrs. Phillip Miehls of the Blue side. On Monday evening there will be third degree work at the Masonic lodge, and it will be one of the times which every member will thoroughly enjoy. They have been having some enjoyable sessions lately, and the order seems to be for a continuance indefinitely. The Decatur lodgee has been inbited and accepted an invitation to Geneva at an early date, and at that time they will give the work. As Geneva is great on entertaining. the boys here are already looking forward to a gala time.
The Mite Society of the Methodist church was entertained by Mrs. J. T. Merryman at her home on Second street. A large company attended, refreshments were served. Th Ben Hurs met at their hall at the regular meeting last night. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schirmeyer entertained at dinner yesterday noon in honor of Mrs. W. H. Wiley, Mrs. John Tyndall and son Dan and Emmet Wiley. Mrs. Wiley will return to her home at Marion after visiting Mr. and Mrs. Sehirmeyer and other friends for several The first section of the Ladies' Aid Society of the Presbyterian church will hold an apron sale in the church parlor on Thursday afternoon, April Bth. Besides a number of all kinds of aprons they will also have a large number of other useful articles which will be disposed of at the same time. The ladies extend an invitation to the pubic and ask that a large crowd be present. * Mrs. G. T. Miss Frances Dugan entertained a company of friends at a dinner party Friday evening. Dore B. Erwin, as commissioner, sold one of the cheapest farms which has been disposed of here for some time, this afternoon, when at the east door of the court house he auctioned the Grim farm, located a half mile north of Monroe. The farm went to Charles Grim for $5,235, about sixtythree dollars an acre, there being eighty-six acres in the tract. The farm is located along the extension of the traction line, and is a very desirable one. Attorney Griner, of Portland, was a bidder on the farm, but quit because he w r anted immediate possession which could not be given.
