HELD INSTITUTE The Teachers of St. Marys Township Met Last Saturday INTEREST IS GOOD Attendance Was Large and the Program Was Pleasing The teachers of St. Marys township met December 12, 1908. at District No. 2. The morning session began at 9:30 a. m. with all teachers present and a number of visitors. The teachers responded to roll call with quotations from various noted educators. -All visitors were voted members of the institute and manifested great interest in the discussion. The forenoon was spent in discussing topics from “The School and It’s Life” in which all teachers and others took an active part. The subject of “Spelling” was then thoroughly discussed. At the noon hour all were hospitably entertained by ’the teacher and patrons of the school and a sumptuous dinner was enjoyed. The p. m. session began at 1:30 o'clock with the discussion of “The Theory of the English Government” The institute studied the lives of some of the most noted educators. The program was iinterspersed by music by the teacher I and school, a recitation by Miss Bunjner and a solo by Mr. W. G. Teeple. The institute was favored with an interesting talk by Rev. D. O. Wise. After the assignment of trfe topics and place of meeting for the next institute an address was given by the trustee. Mr. W. H. Teeple, in which he expressed his gratitude for the hearty co-operation between himself and teachers during his administratratlon as trustee. He closed by expressing his best wishes to each teache The trustee-elect, Mr. O. J. Suman was present and addressed the institute expressing a desire that the educational work should continue to prosper and assured his teachers that they woifld have his co-operation in
all lines of school work. Mr. S. C. ■ Ctamer expressed his joys of being E with the teachers and trustee of St. ( g Marys again. A vote of thanks was 11 given to the teacher. Mr. B. S. Colter, 11 and the patrons of the school for their [ fl hospitality and kindness shown to j I all, another to th e trustee for his I g kindness shown throughout his term | of 'office. The session dosed at 4 a o'clock p. m. 8 $75,000 A MONTH I Il Is the Amount of Business‘l Done by the Decatur Packing Company DIRECTORS MET j At Their Offices Last Night | —Business is Progress- ] ing Nicely | The directors of the Decatur Pack- I ing company held a meeting at their ! offices where a report was read cover- I ing the business of the concern for : the month of November. The session I was spirited, every director manifest- ! ing a deep interest in the progress of I the institution. The report brought > out the fact that $75,000 worth of I business was done in November, which ! exceeds that of November, 1907, SB,- I 000, a very noticeable gain. The pro- | meters of the Decatur Packing com- I pany do not expect to do a big busi- I ness during the winter months for the | reason that many of the farmers and I some townspeople have killed their | meat and the demand will not be big > I until some time in April. Under the j [ supervision of Mr. HaywanJ, and anij able board of directors this company I is doing a business which exceeds c the fondest expectations of the stock- I holders and although the bitter comes J with/he sweet, there is no doubt but I that the concern will, within a few | years, pay big dividends. The stock i buyers are experiencing no difficulty I in securing enough hogs and cattle m c the county to meet their demands, I as they are paying topnotch prices. I
