If you have noticed, it is the advertising merchant who smiles the loudest. If the tone of the Democratic press is an index, John Worth Kern will carry off the senatorial toga in a walk. Nearly every exchange cuts the wires and boldly proclaims that party service, good Democracy and clean statesmanship demands that the party place this senatorial honor upon Mr. Kern, The prohibition vote in Indiana came up shy this year. Four years ago they cast 22,690 votes, while at the election last Tuesday their total vote was 15,926. The socialiss gained about one thousand, while William Randolph Hearst’s independence party was a dismal failure, they casting but 383 votes in the state. The Eighth district is changing fast from a Republican to a Democratic stronghold. Four years ago George W. Cromer’s plurality was 7,394, and this year William J. Bryan carried it b v 103. Thomas R. Marshall by 2,381, and John A. M. Adair by 5,663. The Decatur Democrat says this record is not excelled by any other district in the state, save the seventh, Indian-, apolis.—Berne Witness. lof their party's temperance attitude, -Iby jumping all over Governor Hanly, »i and attributing to him the downfall of their candidate for governor. Their language is savage. A week ago these newspapers were praising the beauties i of county option and printing eulogies > about their great governor. All this s' makes prominent one sact —Governor 11 Hanly is personally more sincere in s his attitude for temperance than is ' his party. We agree with the Indianapolis Sun ’ that there has been enough election • talk and argument. Mr. Taft is the I president-elect and every law-abiding ■' freeman is willing to give him earnest • co-operation and support. Mr. Marshall is the gcvemor-elect and we ! it that the same confidence will be : given him. Good government is always supported by our citizenship, with little thought of the party that , supplies the governing power. With j the election over, business should be i permitted to resume —it is a needed asset after a year of painful depres sion. SUCCESSFUL COAT SEASON. Niblick & Co. SPLENDID WORK Is Shown in the Erection of Several New Monuments AT MAPLEWOOD Only a Few of the Many Built by Wemhoff Company this Year During the past season a number of beautiful and handsome monuments have ben erected at Maplewood cemetery in this city, marking the graves o' some of our best known former citizens. Among them are those at the graves of Thomas Archbold, a 'contractor and old citizen; James W. Place, for years the owner of the Place Ice Cream company; John A. Cline, a well known carpenter and Mrs. J. R. Peoples. All of monuments were built and erected by the Wemhoff Monumental company.and besides these this company has constructed a number of others i here and elsewhere in this section, i Each shows skill of workmanship and the excellent selection of granite and marble. The company js also known in Allen county, where they ‘ have erected many of the best monuments in the various cemeteries, and from where they still receive many i orders. REBELS WOULD ABOLISH. Russia Receives Report of Plot to Overthrow Shah’s Force*. St. Petersburg. Nov, 10.—Official confirmation has been received from Teheran of a reactionary plot to abolish the Persian parliament. Russia, which, in conjunction with Great Britain. has repeatedly warned the Shah of the dangers of such a course, has decided to renew her energetic representations against the contemplated coup d’etat. The situation in northern Persia is a source of great anxiety to the Russian foreign office. Russian revolutionists from the Caucausus.who have flocked to Satar Khan’s standard are manifesting a hostile spirit toward the Russian official and commercial, representatives, which force intervention. The foreign office, however. is reluctant to act. since the dispatch of troops to Tabriz at this juncture might be construed into encouragement of the reactionary party at Teheran and probably would necessitate more extensive operations in Azerbaijan province, a heavy expense and no permanent advantage to Russia. Negotiations to bring Austrai-Hungary and Turkey into line for the proposed Balkan conference began in earnest this week. Austrias reply to conference programs allows a wide latitude to the discussion of arrangements which probably will be continued for some time. 1 o THE DOCTOR’S QUESTION Advice Against the Use of Harsh Purgatives and Physics, A doctor's first question when consulted by a patient is, “are your bowels regular?" He knows that ninety-, eight per cent of illness is attended with inactive bowels and torpid liver. This condition poisons the system with noxious gases and waste' matter which naturally and which must be removed through the bowels before health can be restored. Salts, ordinary pills and cathartics may be truly Hkened to dynamite. I Through iheir harsh, irritating action .they force a passage through the bow'els, causing pain and damage to the delicate intestinal structure which w eakens the whole system, and at best only produces temporary relief. The repeated use of such treatments cause chronic irritation of the stomach and bowels, hardens their tissues, deadens their nerves, stiffens their muscles and generally brings about an injurious habit which sometimes has fatal j results. We have a postive, pleasant and i safe remedy for constipation and bowel disorders in general. We are so. certain of its great curative value that iwe promise to return the purchaser's j money in every case when it fails to ; produce entire satisfaction. This remedy is called Rexall Orderlies. We urge you to try them at our entire risk. Rexall Orderlies are very pleasant, to take, they act quietly and have a soothing, strengthening, healing influence on the entire intestinal tract, i They do not purge, gripe, cause nau- ■ sea, flatulence, excessive looseness, diarrhoea or other annoying effect, and they may be taken at any time without any inconvenience. Rexall Orderlies overcome the drugging habit and cure constipation and ’ all similar ailments, whether acute lor chronic. They are especially good i for children, weak persons or old folks.
