J. W. Bosse went to Fort Wayne this morning on business. Eugene Runyon has returned from a business trip at Berne. Fred Vaughn and wife are attending the fair at Angola this week. C. B. Schmuck has returned from a business call at Geneva today. Mr. Al Burdg and daughter Merle, are spending the day at Portland. David Werling has returned home from a business trip to Huntington. The Decatur Furnace company is doing a good business at present. Miss Loretta Clever arrived i n the city last evening for a short visit, Mrs. John C. Moran is spending a few days with relatives at Berne. Mr. and Mrs. C. X. Niblick left this morning to attend the Portland fair. Floyd Lo-bAiii is attending the Portland fair this week, having an exhibit there. MB’s Georgian Lauer, of Fort Wayne, is in the city the guest of Mss Agnes Costello. • Rev. Travers has returned to Portland, after a pleasant visit with Rev. Wilkins. The St. Joseph schools will open Monday morning after -a ten weeks vacation. Miss Clara Fuelling has returned home from a short visit at Fort W'ayne with friends. George Brewster has returned to his home at Geneva after transacting business here. Judge W. J. Mrs. Mary Weldy and Miss Margaret Hite will return' home Saturday from a several days’ visit at Tocsin. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Simcoke. of St. Louis, Mo., returned home this morning after visiting here for a few weeks. Charles Voglewede has arrived home from a business trip to Chicago. While there he also attended the and leather fair. The old soldiers who attended the G. A. R. encampment at Toledo, returned home last evening. They report a fine time. Tne members of the Epworth League cabinet held a business meeting last evening and attended to many important matters. The condition of W. H. Lehne, who is sick with typhoid fever, is somewhat improved today. He passed a very restful night. Mrs. Judson Teeple and son will leave in a few weeks for Loch Haven, Pa., where they will make a visit with relatives for some time. Miss Myrtle Watts, who has been making a several days’ vacation here with fripnds will return to her home at Toledo. Ohio, Sunday. The Red Men . lodge at Monroeville yesterday held a pow wow which was attended by about four tlibusand visitors. A great time was»had. Several society events in the way of socials, picnics, etc., are scheduled to come off this week and the events will be very brilliant affairs. Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Graham passed through the city enroute from attending the G. A. R. encampment at Toledo, to their home at PreblA John Smith and Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Edge and Mrs. L. M. Grandstaff have returned from Toledo, where they attended the G. A. R. encampment. Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Hensley and children returned home this afternoon from Rome City, where they have been spending the summer at their cottage. The G. A. R. .parade at Toledo. Ohio, yesterday was the finest ever see n in that city. About 15,000 veterans were in tlhe line of march, every state in the Union being represented. Rev. EUering, of Columbia City, Ind.. Rev. Wsedan, New Haven, Ind., Revs. Durham, Kroll and Hottenrot, of Fort Wayne, Ind., were the guests of Rev. Wilken and Rev. George yesterday.

Miss Lois Winch, of W’ijnona Lake, Ind., is visiting in the city with Miss Frances Dugan. Israel Stonburner and Rastus Fritzinger left this afternoon to attend the Portland fair. • Jonas Tritch and wife went Jo Monroe this afternoon to spend a fewdays wih relatives. A large crowd attended the dancing lessons given at Maple Grove Park last evening by Dale Sphar. John Hey, of Willshire, was a business caller here yesterday and returned home last evening. Harold Graham went to Monroe today to spend the remainder of the week with his grandparents. Ernest Schlickman has transferred ' eighty acres in Kirkland township to August Schlickman for $7,000. Newton Anderson has moved into his new home on Third street, formerly the Dr. Boyers residence. Mont Fee has removed his newsstand from the DeWitt cigar store to the Spencer electrical store. The Relief Corps will have a meeting tomorrow’ night and all members will please be present at the hall. The Columbian Club held a social session last evening, the first in several months and a full attendance was present. Dancing lessons are being regularly at Maple Grove Park by Dale Spahr, and a number of people are attending the same. A number of mail carriers from this county will go to Klarion Monday to attend the state, convention of rural route carriers. ’ J. S. Peterson will go to Fort Wayne this evening and from there* tn Rome City, where he will Sunday with his family. Many will attend the park this evening and enjoy the dancing as this is the regular night for the same, Gcod music will be furnished by Med Miller and True Fristoe. The railroads are enjoying a good patronage the past few weeks, as the many people who have been attending the various summer resorts are returning to their homes. A postal was received from Fred Schafer this morning, written from Baden Baden, one of the most beautiful spots of Europe. Mr. Schafer says he will start for home soon. The regular meeting of the Pocahontas lodge will be held this evening and the committee in charge is desirous of a good attendance at the same. All members are requested to be present. A good meeting of the Woman’s Relief Corps was held yesterday after, noc.n at the home of Mrs. Joshua Parrish. The meeting was a most successful one and the ladies reaped a neat little sum. A Colorado couple got married a few days agoi and the license bore the number 1313. Very few people who marry are thug furnished with something to blame for the misfortunes that follow. Comrades here have received invitations to attend thQ twenty-third annual reunion of the 89th regiment and 9h Indiana battery, which will be held at Connersville. Indiana. Wednesday and Thursday, October 7th and Bth. Enoch, E. W., and Glen Stalter of Elkhart, Ind., passed through the city enroute from Elkhart to Mofiroe to he at the bedside of their father, Rev. Noah Stalter. who is seriously ill. Small hopes are given for his recovery. W’. J. Vesey, republican senatorial candidate from Alien and Adams counties, was in the city yesterday looking for a tip as to how many votes he can pull in old Adams. What information he gleaned we are unable to state. Mrs. Leo Kifltz, who was operated upon at Lima, Ohio, but a few weeks ago is so much improved that she may be able to return home in this city within a short time. Her husband has returned from a short visit | with her. Have you ever noticed after a vacation spent close to the heart of nature and remote from daily perusal of newspapers hew many things happen that you don’t know about until long after you have settled down to the usual routine again? Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Ellingham, who have been attending the national editorial meeting at St. Paul, with a side trip through northwest Canada, will arrive home Monday morning. The editorial association meets next year at Seattle, with a trip to Alaska.
