Mrs, A. J. Smith spent the day at Fort Wayne. Miss Victoria Stone is somewhat Improved today. Wm. Koeneman was a business caller at Williams today. Miss Etta Barkley, of Hoagland, was shopping in the city yesterday. Miss Midge Smith went to Fort Wayne this morning to spend the day, Mrs. Susan Hays will visit over Easter Sunday with her parents at Williams. Mrs. Millard Hendricks, of Monroe, spent the day in this city visiting with friends. C. D. Lewton left on the 8:30 car for Fort Wayne to be a business caller there today. Tl. A. Mann went to Fort Wayne on the 8:30 car. While there he will transact business. Frank Stone, of Fort Wayne, was in the city yesterday the guest of his father, J. H. Stone. Mrs. Chris Meyers, of Geneva, arrived last evening to visit with relatives for a few days. Mrs. G. M. Meek and children returned to their home at Summit City, Mich., after a pleasant visit in the city. Mrs. Uriah Grimm, of Williams, returned to her home last evening after being he?e yesterday between trains. Miss Bessie Miller, of Berne, passed through the city enroute to Warren, where she will visit relatives for a few days. Mrs. Fred Meyers, of Berne, arrived this morning and went to Willshire, Ohio, on a later train to visit there with relatives for a few days. Mrs. Frank Cloud and daughter Ina returned to their home at Kalamazoo, Mich., this morning after making a pleasant visit with Clint Cloud and family for several months. Mr. and Mrs. Lynes E. Beard and baby arrived from Salomie, Indiana, Friday afternoon and will visit until after Easter Sunday with Mrs. Beard's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Harruff. Mrs. U. G. Denmon and daughter \gnes. of Toledo. Ohio, are in the city the guests of her mother, Mrs. Isabella Neptune and the Drs. J. Q. and Dick Neptune. Mr. Denmon, who is the Republican candidate for attorney general in the state of Ohio, arrived last evening and will accompany his wife to Willshire. Ohio, where they will visit relatives.

Mr. and Mrs. Chris E. Strebe left for Fort Wayne this morning to spend the day at that place. Mrs. Joshua Krick, of this city, will visit with her son, John Krick, of Fort Wayne, for a few days. D. E. Lauferty returned this morning after making a business trip to some towns west of here. Mr. and Mrs. John Steele went to Fort Wayne to visit over Sunday with . their daughter, Mrs. Miller. Mrs. Sam Acker and children, of Geneva, arrived this morning to visit with relatives for a few days. Mrs. Lucy Ray and children left for Grand Rapids this morning, where they will visit relatives for a few days. A marriage license was issued to Finley Duff, age 23, farmer, and Ethel Runyon, age 20, both from near Berne. Mrs. William Lyman and son Dainen who have been visiting here returned to their home at Indianapolis this morning. J. H. Mumma went to Fort Wayne this morning to transact business with International Gasoline company at that place. R. C. Stone and wife, of Muncie, returned to their home today after making a pleasant visit in the ctiy with his father, J. H. Stone. Dr. P. B. Thomas has awarded a contract to Carpenters Mann and Christen for the remodeling of his home and work will begin on same in the near future. The pipe line gang consisting of sixty Americans and one hundred and twenty-five foreigners, will land at Preble next Wednesday or Thursday, and then there will be something doing. Marshal Bohnke has been tvaging a war against meddlesome dogs during the past few weeks and he has sent many to their eternal resting place. This morning he followed a canine to the Decatur Packing house and shot it. Mrs. Albert Aker, of Decatur, arrived yesterday for a visit with relatives in this city. During the absence of Mr. and Mrs. William Wysong, who leave for Bryan, 0., tomorrow, she will reside in their home, caring for her brothers and sisters. But four miles of the ! ditch is to be cleaned and it will cost ibut a small amount to each of the farmers through whose land it intersects. The pet i. ion which was circulated contained the names of thirtynine farmers and it should be re-lo-cated as proposed so that the land can Ibe well drained. County Surveyor Baumgartner sold the Matthias Miller ditch located in Blue Creek and Monroe townships I this morning at 10:30 o'clock.
